Yeah I hate it when people say that popular people don't influence others just because they are dumb (or in Phil's case play a dumb character). There is so much evidence to the contrary, look at the "Vaccinations=autism" myth that was perpetrated (and possibly started, but I'm not sure) by Michelle Bachman, look at the chick who figured out Subway used a chemical also used in yoga mats despite explicitly she has zero expertise in the world of nutrition, or the girl who complained about Colbert's satire while it being clear that she wasn't getting the concept of satire. All of these things got a response, and a following despite the fact that none of these instances had merit.
