Kinda a spoiler:
It had such a sad ending . Life literally just crapped all over that girl the entire movie.
Yeah, it kinda sucked, I agree. But...
It's almost like she didn't die, though--I mean, she "went" to her kingdom after all. Still...I was like, "OMFG, NO WAY! I CAN'T BELIEVE HE ACTUALLY SHOT HER!!!"
You can cry on my shoulder :) *sniffs your hair, eyes flickering as he inhales*

I almost cried near the end of click when the guy's running out in the rain to tell his son to have time with his girlfriend then fell on the floor and started to talk the people. Then it slapped me in the face when he gave the middle finger to the thoing guy...

I feel bad I did.

Yeah but
It's pretty much implied that the whole fantasy stuff was just in her head. With the chalk of the door she made earlier in the film still on the wall and the faun being invisible to the captain. In her head she may have gone to a kingdom, but I think in reality she went deadsies
And get off my hair >_>

Me too. Pan's Labyrinth was much better artistically, but...
I never saw the girl's death coming. I mean it was a kid's movie I thought it was gonna be all happy sunshine and stuff, then the girl had to go and die and ruin my night.
That was a spectacular movie. It didn't make me cry though... wasn't that moving.

However, I did watch a film today that did make me cry... the first since Schindler's List (which I saw over at least 5 years ago) to make me blubber for a few seconds. A Korean war film named Tae Guk Gi. Stupendous war film too... shames most western ones quite badly.

Uhh I don't know how to do that fancy spoiler thing but SPOILER****the movie has a happy ending*****JiveT

Yeah, it was kind of sad. The girl who played Ofelia was a pretty damn good actress, which made it all the more real. :(

It's actully my favorite movie of all time.

It makes me happy to know that more people know about this great film.

And yes. The ending was dreadful for me but to see her in her "kingdom", made me feel a bit better.

I never understood why people want to see sad movies. Basically you're paying $10 to feel the same emotion that you'd feel if your friend died. Maybe there's pleasure in feeling bad. We just don't show it in real life situations.

ahh guys, the below spoiler will make you all happier, note gamespot is being stupid again with it's " Your HTML is not well-formed - please check for unclosed tags." crap so don't read below if you don't want to know. It wasn't all in her head, it was real. Del Toro said himself in the commentary that he intended it to be real. Infact if you may more attention to the film you'd realise it's impossible for it not to be real. Firstly, where did she get the chalk from? Secondly, she was locked in a room with a man standing gaurd just outside, if she didn't use the chalk as the movie indicates, then how did she get out? Also the maze scene at the end. The only reason any of you think it was in her head is because of the part at the very end where he can't see the faun. However, as del toro said, maybe the faun doesn't want to be seen by him? And maybe you can't see the faun once you stop beileving. All of that info basically comes directly from the writer/director, there's no way for it to have all been in her head

I still haven't seen this movie.. but know what? I'm going to get it today and watch it on me Xbox. I keep hearing its good and my sister saw it a while back and all I did was listen a bit to the sounds of the movie. Sounded very violent and emotional.

Though I didn't cry, I do agree is was really sad, especially when the little girl's mom dies, and shes left with her really cruel military step father dude, but it got a little better when he was shot, of course then the little girl died after he shot her so...

It was most certainly NOT a kids movie. It was a movie for adults that reminisce about kids movies.

I wanted to see that movie when it was in theaters ,but no one wanted to see it with me. When I did see it on dvd I was amazed, and I did come very close to crying.

In order to feel happy you must also experience sadness. Just like there must be evil for good to appear good.

I rented the film today at last. I never used to cry at sad movies or wince at any violence whatsoever. I used to enjoy it. Now I'm a parent its a lot different, I guess I see the world differently - or maybe I'm just getting old. And yes that means I did cry - but it was confused tears.
Without the fairytale the film is just a cruel tale, a very cruel tale of incredibly brave people living in a terrible world. And this unfortunate girl has to live through that. Thats what made me cry (actually it was the sight of her smile just before she died) But after thinking about it I realised that the fairytale part must have been real, in that she escape through a door she drew from chalk. But then there is still some doubt. I was in full belief that her world was real until we saw her again (after the underworld scene with her father) and at that point we could only believe what she saw was in her mind.
My brain is seriously confused now, I mean yesterday I watched Derren Brown messiah, today Pan's Labyrinth and my brain is starting to unravel. lol

I'm wondering what Captain Vidal's issues were...I mean, we saw clear signs that he hated himself, and felt he was inferior to his father. Maybe that was it. He was a sad, pathetic man trying to be big.

have you seen either "The Devil's Backbone" (preceeded "Pan's Labyrinth") or "The Orphangae" (DelToro's newest movie)? Haven't seen The Orphanage yet, but The Devil's Backbone was excellent
