Only drug users support legalizing drugs

Legalizing drugs doesn't benefit anything or anyone, except for druggies. Every argument I've ever heard for legalizing drugs were from drug users themselves. You mean to tell me we need to start listening to such people?

Drug users aren't inherently bad people because they use drugs. Although I know at least one drug user who is one of the worst people I've ever met.

As far as the issue goes I don't even care anymore. I don't use them and I don't ever plan on starting. I understand using drugs every once in a while to just get high or whatever but a lot of the users I know do so to deal with shit in their life and even though they're my friends it's still pathetic as hell.

On what do you base this conclusion?

I don't use illegal drugs but I really don't care if they legalize pot or not. My only issue is with people who act like weed is some miracle drug that can cure cancer and the only reason it is illegal is so Big Pharma can keep charging you for their products.

They're retards because they don't see the benefits hugely outweigh any cons. Just these 4 alone, make the law look ridiculous.

1. The drug is very safe. You would die overdosing on coffee before weed

2. Massive amounts of money to be made

3. New jobs ranging from everything from gardening to bud tender

4. Millions saved every year on arrests and trials.

@ad1x2: It also bothers me when people treat weed like a miracle drug. As I understand it, weed is used more as a pain killer than anything for cancer patients. It does nothing to actually treat the disease, just eases the pain a bit.

1)The cash that will get in the government's pocket that can be re-inserted somewhere else instead of of drug lords.

2)Better supervision of the product

3)Less organized crimes around that

Your assertion is incorrect, OP. I have never ingested marijuana in any form and am in favor of its legalization. Even though I have no desire to use marijuana, I believe that as a natural substance that emanates from the Earth, every one has a right to consume it if they wish to do so. Furthermore, one of my central principles is that everyone should have the right to do whatever they want so as long as it's harmless to others.

I've never done a drug in my life, and I'm pro-marijuana. No, smoking is never good, but marijuana is natural, cigarettes are chemical-laden and disgusting, and there are other ways to ingest pot, including ways that do not get you 'high'. Lots of ways to use it instead of pharmaceuticals to help various conditions, and it generates a SHIT TON of easy money for the government.

I am not pro-legalizing stuff like heroin or meth. Hard, addictive drugs don't help anyone.

Not sure if serious. Either way I'm for the legalization of marijuana (speaking as a former user). It would help our economy, bring forth jobs, decrease number of inmates in prison. That say, I can't say the same thing about heroin, meth, cocaine, and so on. They're simply horrible.

There are legal drugs that are just as damaging and addictive as the illegal drugs. If someone wants to take drugs they will take drugs regardless of wether they are legal or not.

Well, depending on how dangerous it is, that very well could be a valid reason for it being illegal. I mean, if I'm running a restaurant it's illegal for me to sell expired chicken. There are all sorts of regulations for what businesses can and can't legally sell, and it should be that way.

Having said that, weed isn't very dangerous. I'd argue that it's certainly not dangerous enough to warrant its sale being illegal. I'm just saying that some people argue "it's my body and it's no one else's business", and I don't think that logic holds. There is a responsibility to the public's safety, and it's entirely possible that certain things should be illegal simply because of the danger posed by them.
