I think you've got it all backwards.

I think that "God" did just fine giving us something to worship. The bad news is that we knew what it was the whole time. I hate to be so sarcastic about it; but it is NATURE. In a period when we thought too highly of ourselves, we left it behind. What a shame huh? Keep it up and we're all going to die. What will feed your afterlife? It would get so boring without the newest relative-soul showing up every end of generation; Don't you think? You've got to preserve this existence, that's your ultimate goal as a spiritual and physical being.
