@TheHighWind: I'm in kind of a similar situation. Granted, I don't live in Florida, but I'm actually surprised how hard it is to come across women who live in Central New York. I did read that my area has slightly higher male-to-female ratio, so maybe that has something to do with it.
POF, I've been on it for like a week now. I gotta say, my first impression of it isn't real great. Lots of attractive-looking women, both in my city and within a 40-mile radius. But I've probably sent out like 30 different messages by now, and only one person has messaged me back - not because they are interested, but because they want to talk about a band they're in. This person has never even looked at my profile!
I've gotten a few page views, mostly from people who I've favorited and tried to contact. Nobody has favorited me. And I got like 3 "meet-up" requests, but when I tried to contact the users they never said anything back to me.I'm trying to stay kind of optimistic, in case maybe I haven't given it enough time. But I feel like the women on there are either bots, or else they have super-high-unrealistic standards, or else they just don't like me.
I think you should consider trying to go places and meet people. I mean no offense, but it seems like this computer dating shit is a joke. You can spend countless hours trying to get into contact with different women, and put a lot of effort into it, and you might just end up wasting a bunch of time that you could have spent meeting actual women right in your town.
I'm thinking about maybe hitting up bars one of these weeks. And hey, some of those middle-aged chicks are pretty good-looking! I mean, I'm sure younger girls go someplace to hang out, and you can look there, too. But give the bars and clubs a chance, you might meet someone - at least a friend or someone who wants to have some fun!
Good luck, bro-ski. We've just gotta have a little faith and keep it up.
