ND has Fargo (and the film), t3hrubikscube and it lacks Bloomberg so it's automatically better than NYMrPraline

Just watch, Bloomberg is going to find a way to become Mayor for life. What a power hungry douche.

[QUOTE="WhiteKnight77"] Laws about drugs, prostitution and gambling are in place everywhere. That argument is baseless.NEWMAHAY

Not according to the study

Why did you assume I was a liberal? I am curious. Based on what?

While there are laws that are loosening up where marijuana is concerned in some states, for the most part, all states still have laws governing the use of drugs no matter legal or illegal. Same goes for prostitution and gambling. While Nevada is a gambling mecca, there are still laws governing it as well as prostitution (legal as it is in Nevada). Those facts will never change. Just because something is legal, doesn't mean that there are not laws governing such action. As it is, there are only 7 states without some sort of state sanctioned gambling (lottery) and all 43 of those states have strict laws on what can and cannot be used to gamble with. Why that was looked at, I can't say.

Most of OT is liberal. I hadn't seen anything different from you to not think otherwise.

Once Bloomberg's soda ban goes through does that mean we'll have Big Gulp speakeasies opening up in the five boroughs?

It's not too bad. Of course, we live by the Great Lakes side of New York. So, summers are really fun.... and Canada isn't too far away when we want to visit.

[QUOTE="JML897"]"North Dakota was ranked as the most free state, followed by South Dakota, Tennessee, New Hampshire and Oklahoma." lol So I guess your options are "be really free in a really dull state" or "put up with high taxes and some stupid laws to live somewhere much better"airshocker

Much better? ND has something like 3% unemployment. It's ohviously a much better place to live than NY.

It's all subjective, obviously. Personally I'd rather be dead than live in North Dakota

Running a state with >20,000,000 people is =/= to running a state with a few hundred thousand people to ~one million people...

Clearly the policies that are enacted in New York are completely unrelatable to policy in North Dakota.  Stop and Frisk may seem like a big deal, but when New York city has been in the past and continues to be in the present, the target of extremist groups, what do you want them to do? Just sit around and wait for attacks to happen?  Its easy to compare that to Fargo, North Dakota where six people live and it has never been the target of anything and complain about it.

NYC is fine to visit, but living there would be dull as all hell.

Also this isn't the first study to say this. Granted they're still studies, but there are others done with different factors that almost always put New York at the bottom. It is not a state where personal freedom is valued regardless of how you look at it.

Typical of OT liberals to take what was said out of context. No study is posted or was posted and the website showing what states have the best and worst personal freedoms shows that most of the liberal states are also the ones with the least amount of personal liberties. Gee, with all the talk about inclusiveness and acceptance, they really go out of their way to not make people feel welcome or free.

are you going to now talk about what political spectrum he belongs to and belittle their OT subgroup?

Better than this nanny state.

Not true. There's a night-life in the cities. What, you think North Dakota doesn't have cities? Minot, Bismarck, Fargo, and Grand Forks are all fairly close to each other. And Minnesota offers sporting events, along with other attractions like the Mall of America.

It seems you don't actually know anything about North Dakota.

Minnesota has sporting events but they're also primarily in the Twin Cities. That's about a 3.5 hour drive from the eastern border of North Dakota which is way too far to make regular travel there for a sporting event reasonable. Also no bands I like ever hit North Dakota on their tours and I really like going to concerts I'm not giving that stuff up to live in Fargo

Is anybody really surprised by this?  The so-called liberals (they're not real liberals) ruin our society with moral depravity, deny what's happening, pass laws to restrict the freedoms and rights of the innocent, then blame the whole thing on people with common sense, morals, and a belief in personal liberty.  They create the problem, pass the blame, and implement "solutions" that are completely ineffective.  It's madness.

I suppose, though I guess it depends on your prerogative. I only go to sporting events rarely. The only ones I went to while in ND were UFC fights. Everything else I'd rather watch on a big screen TV.

Bands come through North Dakota ALL of the time. Especially during the State Fair.

Neither of those two things would stop me from living in a place, though. I'm more concerned with my general welfare when I choose to live somewhere.
