Superhero-based visual media is now more popular than ever; movies based on comic-book characters now comprise the bulk of summer blockbusters and similarly-based shows are now the most viewed on television. In regard to the latter medium, DC Entertainment is expanding its universe on the small screen with its latest series, Supergirl, which is scheduled to debut this Fall.
Check out the trailer for the series in the following video, posted by CBS, the network on which it will be broadcasted.
It looks good, though a bit too light and comedic; I suppose it's going for the same vibe as Lois and Clark. My only true gripe with it is its forced use of a diverse cast; the character Jimmy Olsen, a photographer who works for the Daily Planet, is being played by a Black guy. I'm Black myself and find this casting decision to be odd and agenda-driven; Jimmy is supposed to be this goofy and unassuming White guy and not an imposing Black man.
