Dumbass.
And the idiot refers to Separation of Church and State, or as he calls it, "freedom from religion," a fundamental human right. *Headdesk*
It's sad that his children have to put up with such crap.

[QUOTE="Jandurin"]Neo Atheist? Soft/hard/whatever. Being religious or anti-religious is too much work.Jango-BawlsSo apathy and indifference is the way to be? :P It's like my life calling.
I suspect the bigger issue was the first one mentioned in the headline of the story: "A Queensland father of five has taken action in the Anti-Discrimination Commission after his four-year-old daughter was asked to help make a replica of Noah's Ark at the local state school."xaos
Did you read the article, or just that first issue?
Neo Atheist? Soft/hard/whatever. Being religious or anti-religious is too much work.JandurinA lot of the time I find that it's too much work not being anti- things. I certainly find it much easier to hate humanity than to not hate it. >_>
It's obvious it has nothing to do with him actually being offended, he just saw a good chance to act offended and start suing people for easy cash.LittleHands134Prove it.
The separation of Church and State is a good thing, it would prevent religion being used as an excuse for unjust wars and tighter government controls over its people. You know, like what has happened in the past few years in the U.S.Dumbass.

That's the point, it's impossible to prove it. I would have done the same thing though, easy cash is easy cash.

I did, and while it was an overreaction more likely to cause hassles for his kids than anything else in my opinion, I saw no indication that showing "Evan Almighty" was the core of his gripe, but rather part of his overall complaint with the story of Noah's Ark being used as a teaching tool in an ostensibly secular school.[QUOTE="Theokhoth"][QUOTE="xaos"]I suspect the bigger issue was the first one mentioned in the headline of the story: "A Queensland father of five has taken action in the Anti-Discrimination Commission after his four-year-old daughter was asked to help make a replica of Noah's Ark at the local state school."xaos

Someone should make an equally frivolous law suit by saying his law suit has caused irreparable harm to my well being for insulting my religion and he should be charged with a hate crime.
Seriously, get a damn life.
Money has most likely nothing to do with this. Judging from the article he's probably one of those hardcore atheists who'll do any thing to prove a point, for better or worse.jointedI don't know, I think money is the major motivation behind everything in the world. I could see him getting upset about it and complaining to the school, but to waste months of his life in court over something as trivial as a toy ark? The only reason for that would be to make money. He'll probably make a good couple hundred thousand off this.

And asked his daughter to make a replica of the Ark (as mentioned in the headline and apparently not contested by the school, though the paragraph dealing with that is pretty sloppy and ambiguous as to exactly what was denied). A movie, a book and a crafts project all based on an old testament story are, to me, pretty excessive for a school that has an explicit separation clause governing it. Again, though, I think this guy could stand to think more about his kids well-being than his personal affront at this transgression.[QUOTE="Jango-Bawls"][QUOTE="Jandurin"]Neo Atheist? I struggle to care about these issues anymore. I try to get offended, but it really just doesn't happen.
When I first signed up for GS, I was always getting into the heated debates.. now I just like posting stupid stuff to make people go "WTF?"

Yes he does. It's entirely possible that the guy in question genuinely was pissed off. A claim that he was just doing it for money needs proof - which, of course is lacking. What's a neo atheist?Severed_HandIt's not really a real word, but Theokoth uses it to describe aggressive atheists.

Fool! Don't you realize that Bush, as a dogmatic person who gallingly has both ethics and morality, attacked Iraq and Afganistan, not for the modern pragmatic and materialist necessity of oil, but rather for the absurd religious excuse of justice and protection of the weak from foreign aggression. Hopefully with Obama we can return to the good old Utilitarian days in which we only do what is directly good for us and we can ignore that superficial notion of good and evil.

There are sooooooo many people that would sue for anything though, just letting you know.
