Beginning this week, every story we’ve published since 2007 will be available on newyorker.com, in the same easy-to-read format as the new work we’re publishing. Over the summer, we’ll also provide a sampling of many of the older pieces that our readers keep asking for—including short stories by Alice Munro and Junot Díaz, Janet Flanner on Isadora Duncan, Calvin Trillin on the crime reporter Edna Buchanan, and Mark Singer on the magician Ricky Jay. We’ve also asked our writers to recommend favorite stories from the past, and those selections will be featured on the site and on social media throughout the summer. More here

This is a great initiative from an amazing publication. If you don't know where to start, other websites have posted articles compiling essential pieces. Here's one from Slate.

I don't like the re-design. Most of the articles that interest me are always free but cheers anyway.

I know you are joking but anyone that honestly believes that is an idiot. America produces the best culture and affairs mags.

Please, tell us what magazines your country has and why they are so much better in comparison.

In print form? Probably, but there will always be a dedicated niche for it. Magazines themselves? Absolutely not. More and more are going digital only and moving their business models online. High quality journalism will never be dead.

hmm. I've heard of the New Yorker, but I don't exactly know what that is.

I've already got stuff to read this summer: the Lord of the Rings and Unbroken.

mmmm, i recently went through all three lotr books in 4 days.

good stuff. it makes the movie haters (the ones who like the books) sound even more stupid though. I cant count the amount of times I read a part in lotr and thought "how can anyone expect them to put this in the movie?"

Weird attempt at being funny, m8. I never heard of TNY being associated with hipsters of any kind.

Is everyone unfunny in Ottawa

I have written a screen play before. Needless to say if it was any good I probably wouldn't be posting here. :P
