I wanna buy a 2014 Nissan GTR Black Editionat $111,510 but here's the problem I only have $1,589.65 in the bank. Yeah I know I'm ways away from getting my dream car, I need some advice or suggestions on how I could accumulate more income.

Now I know what your gonna say get a job and I did but everywhere I apply too always end up giving me part time work with 4-7 hours or less work with very minimal pay or a little over $10.25. Also I'm a part time student studying Information systems management.

Been thinking about getting into programming and or coding as a freelancer to make a couple bucks.

Any suggestions or advice would much be appreciated. Or should I just give of owning my dream car??

Forget it. Right now, it sounds like you can barely afford a used $5,000 car. You 'll need a 6 figure income to afford the $1500-2000+ a month car payments, which are more than alot of mortgages. Get real, man.

Oh, a break job for a GTR alone is $7,000. Just to give you an idea of the maintenance costs.

It's a pipe dream for you, my friend. You couldn't afford the insurance on a GT-R (depending on your age, between $3-4k a year), let alone the car payments. I have a household income close to the MSRP of a new GT-R track edition (around $115K before taxes) and I'm not even remotely close to being able to afford one. Hell, a used 2011 or 2013 for around $65-75k is practically out of reach for me.

Right now, you'd have a hard time affording a late model, used, WRX STi or Lancer Evo.

Let me break this down for you...

Assuming 6% sales tax, that $111,510 ends up being $118,200. Even if you managed to put together $30,000 cash for a down payment, you're looking at financing $88,200. Assuming you have pristine credit, which you likely do not if you're seriously contemplating how you can buy this car, you're probably looking at 4% minimum financing for a car like that (they don't give you 0% interest deals on cars like the GT-R). You're looking at a car payment of $1,790 for 60 months....or about $700 more than my monthly payment on a 15-year mortgage. That doesn't even factor in insurance, which will be another $300 - $380 a month. All told, you're spending nearly $2200 a month for a car....if you can manage to put $30,000 down payment.

Right now, you don't have enough cash to make one monthly payment, let alone 60.

If it makes you feel any better the GTR is one of my dream cars as well...and even though I make an upper middle class living there's just no way in hell I could afford it. I think I did the numbers one time and it was like $2000+ a month just for the monthly payment. Then of course you have to factor in the huge increase in insurance, maintenance, and everything else and it's just not even remotely feasible.

I did just buy a new Mustang GT Premium though...guess that will have to do for now lol.

Reminds me of the dating show from mad TV "lowered expectations" lol

If your gonna buy a $100,000 car then your probably also gonna have a million dollar home and other things that come with that kind of lifestyle that could afford that. Mo money mo problems the age old saying. Or you could just park you 6 figure car outside of your parents house and live there the next 60 months while you spend everything you have on a car you can't afford to drive lol.

@renegadesteve Believe me, I feel your pain. The GT-R is the one car I would have above all others (except maybe the brand new 911 Turbo S....that thing is bad). In fact, this thread inspired me to look at some used ones, but I'd still be looking at $60k plus for a used 2011. I just couldn't bring myself to drop that kind of coin on a car. My wife would kill me.

Maybe in 10 years when I pay off the house...

@renegadesteve: Look at it this way, a car is a depreciating asset. It only goes down in value over time (unless you are lucky enough that it becomes a collectors item and you have it in pristine condition). However, for that same money you could buy a small house with next to nothing down at a low interest rate. Housing generally increases in value over time and the government gives favorable subsidies to homeowners (like first time home buyer loans, ect.). Then you would have a place to live AND be making an investment in your future.

Also, you could invest in stocks if you know enough about investing and earn the car over time.

If you are only a student with part time work, you've got a lot more important expenses than that to worry about. It's fun to dream though..

@renegadesteve: Again...you will never get a job, especially one on Wall Street, that will make that car affordable if you are here asking this question. If you can not on your own figure out the funds required, and the type of salary needed, to buy such a car then you are clearly not qualified for any high paying jobs.

You really don't even need to know much about stocks to earn money. Pick a low-fee S&P 500 index fund (preferably from Vanguard), and put a little money in every week/two weeks/month

I wouldn't quite go that far, but if you're not sharp with personal finance, you're certainly not going to understand the high finance concepts for a Wall Street job. I work with a couple of programmers that make more than me but are idiots when it comes to personal finance. These guys both make probably mid $70s and one of them has filed bankruptcy and the other is on the verge.

Meanwhile, I earn less, have no debt (save for my mortgage), pristine credit, and nearly a quarter of a million in retirement savings.

To afford a $120,000 car and a life to go along with it, your income will have to be in the $70-90,000/year mark. Being able to make payments isn't enough, you need to consider any and all costs you will have in your life, and is the reason why you don't see teenagers driving them.

Import a R32 GTR from Japan. It'll cost you a few thousand, and give you a nice-performing car for so much less money.

@foxhound_fox: I am in tht income range and a 2000 dollar a month payment seems way out of my comfortable range. Hell that car costs more than my house lol well unless you mean after taxes, insurances, 401k and what not thise all take a lot of my checks.

I'm thinking in terms of he remains single, lives in the cheapest place he can find and puts all his money into his car. That's where it would probably be reasonably affordable if he finances for half a decade. :P

Otherwise, he'll need a lot more money.

buying a 120k car while only making 70-90k seems ridiculously stupid imo.

while technically you may be able to afford paying for one if you make 70-90k, that would pretty much consume all of your disposable net income after taxes and living expenses and ( one would assume ) any kind of saving. but like someone said in the thread. if you lived with your mom and had zero expenses outside of just owning and maintaining the car, you could do it. but what the hell kind of existence would that be?

Any suggestions or advice would much be appreciated. Or should I just give of owning my dream car??

Man, I'm really sorry, but that's simply unnatainable unless you:

1-Make something wildly illegal to get all that cash.

2-Try your luck at stock exchange and hope to strike big (you got like 1 in a billion chances of this happening, and it can go the other way as well)

Otherwise you just cant, I'm really sorry. finish your education and focus on job opportunities...maybe even open your own business, that's a good way to strike cash (but success is not guaranteed).

Not only do you have to worry about the base cost of the car, you also have to think about insurance and legal fees, mainteinance (GTRs are ridiculously expensive to repair) and gas prices.

Honestly, settle for something like a B14 or 200sx, those cars are cheap, fast, and reliable. Once you get more cash, you can think about the GTR.

Don't know if it has been suggested yet, but you could become a cam girl. They make $5 a MINUTE! In no time you'll have the money you need for that GTR. I know some people, I could hook you up. If my connection don't work out, my brother knows the owner of p0rnhub so you might have an in there.

Your welcome.

If you ever get anywhere close to that and spend it on a car your a dumb ass.

Use it for something that brings more value tomorrow. Once you buy a car, even if its brand new the value of it drops. Real estate on the other hand, always seems to go up. Even when the economy fell, a couple years of dry spell for real estate and now everything doubled in price.

it wasn't a "dry spell". housing values plummeted.

everything hasn't doubled in price. my home, for example, is still worth an estimated $70k LESS than what i purchased it for.
