I've known people that start balding at the age of 16.

I've done absolutely no research on this point, but isn't rogaine supposed to prevent hair loss? Does it do anything for people who have already lost hair?

Rogaine only works on men who have receding hairlines, and only for a brief period. If they are balding on the cranium, forget it.

From what I've heard it does work sometimes. Sometimes it can make your hairloss worse and over the long run can be quite expensive.

There's this pill called finasteride/ propecia that helps, you should have him look into that.

Drugs which have traditionally been used to treat enlarged prostates (dudasteride, finasteride) have now recently been approved by the FDA to treat hair loss. Go figure. If it does not cure one thing, it may cure another. As long as the FDA comes up smelling of roses.

I haven't done any research but I'll say this: if there was any sort of silver bullet to fixing hair loss, you probably wouldn't see any rich folks that were experiencing the same issue. There are some pretty ridiculous cover jobs out there.

Don't bother. Just call him Ace & champfrom now on. He'll feel like a champ and forget all about his hair.
