There are lots of movies that are on the bubble in terms of whether or not they will be made. To name a few: The Hobbit, Halo, Gears of War, Jurassic Park IV... Which movies do you really hope they make, that are on the "bubble."

They really need to make the Hobbit, but they haven't written a script, and Peter Jackson isn't going to direct it. Instead Gullerimo Del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy 1, and Hellboy 2: The Golden Army) is going to direct it. It is rumored that Ian Mckellen will reprise his role as Gandalf, and Andy Serkis will reprise his role as Gollum/ Smeagol. Any ideas on who could play Bilbo, Thorin, Balin, Beorn, and Smaug's voice? it is scheduled for 2011, which seems very realistic.

I would like to see a Halo movie. I think the game was cinematic enough, that it will be easy enough to make a movie about it. I think Christian Bale would be a great choice for Master Chief, because he sounds awesome under a helmet or mask, or maybe Kiefer Sutherland, because he has an incredible voice. They should use Jen Taylor as Cortana she was perfect in the games. Maybe Jamie Fox or Samuel L. Jackson as Johnson. Ron Perlman is perfect for Lord Hood. Reese Witherspoon for the commander. I don't know, but Halo could have a really good cast, because it was such a popular video game, and box office results are sure to be good. It is announced for 2009, but there is no way in hell that's happening. They don't have a script or cast. Peter Jackson is supposed to be the Director/Producer for it.

What are your opinions?

I think that they should make movies about things that you wouldn't really expect, such as a Magic the Gathering movie, or a Soul Calibur movie. But, you always run the chance of the movie sucking, which more times than not tend to happen. You need a good director and good actors to make the movie good and worth while seeing. Hell, just imagine a Splinter Cell movie.

I'd like to see The Hobbit but Im not too sure about the director. I didnt care for Hellboy and The Orphanage and I thought Pans Labyrinth looked dull.

I wouldnt mind seeing a Halo movie directed by Steven Speilburg or the guy who directed Aliens (Drawing a blank on the name atm) and I would love to see another Jurrasic Park.

Btw, the Gears movie is still being made and its sceduled for 2010.

None of those should ever become motion pictures.

uhh movies based on video game Bad idea halo is already way over worked a movie will push it past it's limit and just make it suck that much more.

I do think they really need to make the hobbit movie though, that would be awesome.

Splinter Cell, Magic the Gathering, and Warhammer 40k might make good movies. I'm tempted to say Half-life since it's such a great universe but I don't think a movie of it would work.

This sounds weird but I think Sean Connery would be a great voice for Smaug (probly spelled wrong I'm lazy :P) the Dragon in Hobbit and....it has to be made but ...why wouldn't Peter direct it? He did such a great job with LotR :(

What's weird about that statement is that Sean Connery voiced Draco in the movie Dragonheart, which was a dragon.

A new Mummy is coming this year. It's called "Tomb of the Dragon Emperor".

I heard about Del Toro making the Hobbit, can't wait for that. I'm a little tentative though, while I love Hellboy I'm not sure about the kind of visual style he would use. Still, a fresh take is always great(except with Dawn of the Dead. Let sleeping corpses lie!)

I was thinking about a Metal Gear Solid movie last night. I think a good director might be John McTiernan. He can make great action sequences while also skillfully revealing plot twists. I haven't thought of anyone for Solid Snake yet, but they should get like a contortionist for Pyscho Mantis, and have the voice actor from the game do his lines.

Games just don't translate into good movies. Halo is one of my favorite franchises and I was happy with how the trilogy ended. Just let it be.

MGS4 was practically a movie with its 45 minute ending cutscene.... I want the deathnote series to be made into actual quality movies. They made two, but they had some bad acting, and poor special effects, and didn't stick close to the story. I want a quality remkae of those. It is a controversial, exciting, mysterious series that anyone should be able to enjoy...

I want a movie like 300, with that almost artistic quality, to be made for a series, or a game with a thicker plot than 300.... Like FF, or as I mentioned earlier deathnote...

Movies that ARE happening or in development stages:

Gears of War - is in casting and will come out 2010

Robotech - just got a new scriptwriter and will be released 2010

Bioshock - Gore Verbinski 2010 - nuff said

The Hobbit - in script limbo 2011 tentative release

Tekken - 2009 post production stages (that means its done filming!)

Jurrasic Park IV is in script development looking for a 2009 release

Splinter Cell - 2010 DreamworksSKG

Movies that are in development hell or still being pitched:

Halo - practically dead

Metal Gear - pitched for a late 2009/2010 release (doubt they can pull it off that fast)

Really there are more - just got tired typing it up haha! Ask and I can check for ya.
