Movie News: Ninja Scroll To Become A Live-Action Film

Here's Hollywood's latest attempt to take an anime and turn it into a live-action film.

According to Variety, Warner Bros. has recently aqqired the rights to bring the 1993 Japanese animated film Ninja Scroll to the big screen. Leonardo DiCaprio's production company Appian Way will be producing. No word on a release date yet. This is also the same studio and production company that will be making the live action version of Akira as well.

What's your take...do you think it'll be an interesting idea, or do you think this will turn out to be a questionable move, much like what Fox is doing with Dragonball?

It could turn out to be an entertaining movie, but then again there are those devoted fans who will hate the movie anyways because the characters are portrayed by hollywood actorsGryphon700

What the studios need to do are a few things:

1. Find performers suitable for the roles, not just the latest hot actor/actress who look good.

2. Find a director who knows about the scource material and understands it...or at the very least, a director who has a vision/interesting take, instead of a director who just cranks out the usual crappy-but-profitable movie.

If they can move like Jubei and the Nine Devils, cool. Just as long as those actors aren't actually what they're doing.

A live action Akira sounds weird but cool.
