the word "overrated" is overrated.... you're basically saying "everyone's opinion is wrong because i disagree" stop worrying about what everyone else likes and focus on what you like.

I think everyone is free to like any celebrity they like, but I think it's "overrated" when someone gets to worship status; I don't think many (if any) celebs are worth that.

All of them. They are just people like the rest of us and I see no reason to put them on a pedestal.

Uh...wrong. A large part of why they've been "put on a pedestal" is due to their specific skills, talents, accomplishments, or works. And no, the rest of us (for the most part) HAVEN'T done that stuff.

@Master_Live: People often confuse "hated" with "overrated." In principle, calling something "overrated" is usually a controversial opinion. Most people here are playing it safe.

Overrated doesn't have to be controversial. It's just saying that something gets more recognition or praise than it deserves. That could absolutely apply to things that are hated.

Like, I could say that Nickelback is overrated, and you could reply, "how are they overrated when there are so many people who hate them and think they're pretty awful?"

I could then reply, "yeah, but obviously a lot of people still like them or else they would have faded into obscurity by now. Even if we talk about the people who hate them, most people just say that they're shit. But that's being too generous. They aren't just shit, they're shit if it had been mixed with urine and rotting guts and then left to fester for a few days until it was full of maggots. Even the people who hate them aren't going nearly far enough in their hate, so the band is overrated. Even if they're already wildly hated."

Or, like, if a movie consistently gets two stars (out of five) ratings across the board from every critic, but you think even two stars is being generous. That shit deserves a one or a zero.

Pretty much any person where their death is focused on for more than a day. Take Paul Walker. I've never even seen a single Fast and Furious movie, but the internet was on fire with news about his death. It was ridiculous.

Also, pretty much any other celebrity. They're all pretty overrated, if the gossip magazine covers are anything to go by.
