One of the latest TYT videos about the topic got me thinking on whether or not Tokyo and London are the least friendly cities in the world for tourists.

I haven't been there, but thinking of visiting at some point.

Anyone has an experience visiting those two cities?

London is pretty unwelcoming. Not because the people make you feel unwelcome, but because they won't acknowledge that you even exist.

I have travelled a lot and Glasgow is by far the friendliest city I have been to. Scottish people are very charming.

Yeah....especially if you speak English really well, or are white. I'm filipino Canadian and when I go there I get stares just because of the English. Employees and relatives are curious and aren't shy to talk and be hospitable.

I'm not watching that video. I'll just assume that places that receive more tourists are less friendly towards them. Seattle isn't a particularly touristy location, so we're relatively nice to everybody.

As long as your not black, gay, Asian, American, sound American, English or a woman, Glasgow is incredibly welcoming.

It even has a smile named after it.

@Sword-Demon: Maybe; the people themselves are ok, but the costumer service is appalling (which is really a country-wide problem, just Amsterdam being one of the worst); they actually treat you like they're doing you a favour by letting you spend money in their establishment.

It's a smile you don't want. As a black guy living in Glasgow, I haven't ran into any problems with anyone so far. I don't know why Glasgow has a horrible reputation in the UK/Ireland.

Probably has a bit to do with why Scotland wants to split from the UK. They just can't get along.

I'm pretty sure Istanbul is much friendlier than all of those. And probably thousands or more other cities.

When I went there with my wife, there were a lot of Fil-Ams (and other foreigners) at the malls. No one seems to pay attention to them nowadays. I think the local population have gotten used to seeing outsiders, including Filipinos not born in the home country.

I even scrimmaged with some college soccer players (from Africa) while I was there.

Heard a lot of nice things about Quebec City.

I'm not sure what to think of the list: I tend to believe bigger cities have relatively unfriendly people: the combination of work stress and big crowds mean that you probably just don't have as much time or patience for tourists/strangers.

The Turkish locals are generally very friendly. It's one reason why I had a grand time in Turkey. I even chatted with an old vet who knew some English. He was probably amused at my broken Turkish. ;)

Unfriendly

- London is the best if you hate getting all the attention...... people there ignore you because they think you already know everything.....unless you wear some traditional sexy outfit from Papua New Guinea. Many of their kids are so timid and shy ... but at least they are not loud like the Americans.

- Hongkong ....... very unfriendly ....TBH ... It's hard for them to smile.... the only thing that is friendly is their beautiful neon light ..... good place for a loner.

- Singapore ...... you do your thing... and I do mine ....they speak english ... but their accent sounds rough and weird ......... and the girls ... they got pinkerton syndrome

Friendly

+ United Arab Emirates ...... unlike their Saudi counterparts .... They are the funny version of the Arabs ..... and the Emirates actually love to party and they know how ........ Under their white Thawb .... sparks a little devil in it

+ Sydney ...... people looks so happy all the time ..... maybe they are high all the time ... lol

+ Got to beware with some friendly 3rd world country cities .... like Cairo ....... they are friendly for the wrong reason ..... they always do that money hand gesture when ever they saw foreigners .....

+ India ... seems like many strangers like to get to know you ..if you look foreign to them. Their English accent are funny too (english is widely use) and shaking their head when talking....lol............

If you are a jackass.... India is for you...

They usually ask all sorts of question .....

"where are you from my friend?"

"Which Hotel you stay?"

"Do you come here with your wife?"

"are you gay?"

"do you like drugs?"

"Do you like India?" ........................ that is why you must love india ... lol
