Did you not read what I said? It shows the history of the people from which Jesus was prophesied to rise. It isn't read as instruction on how to live life.
The fact that Catholic masses use scripture readings from the Old Testament regularly suggest they still hold to what is written in the Old Testament.
I've been to a few masses over the last few years as my wife is Catholic. Those scripture readings weren't just to show the lineage of Jesus and how his coming was prophesied. There are clear direction on how one should live one's life. And that doesn't include how bits of the OT are used in homilies.Dude I am Catholic. And we've always been told it's important for the historical content....and of course the parts that are prophesies.
Also the Scripture used is a very small amount of the book....
