What was the first game system you played?

My father and older brother actually had me playing Atari at a very young age. I recall it being forbidden to play because my mom didn't want me playing when I was in diapers. She was cool with me playing games as I got older, though. They had different atari systems but I recall liking the Nintendo much more.

The consoles were always family owned, since i couldnt afford a console on my allowance. The first system I personally purchased was a computer, which happens to be the one I played the original command and conquere.

Shooters and strategy gamers attract me the most. When Mass Effect was mostly role playing, I wasn't a fan.

I'm the kind of person to take people's advise to ensure that I avoid learning things the hard way. If I learn the hard way I've overcome challenges by remaining positive and focused on a solution.

I used to enjoy playing volleyball, but I don't play sports these days.

Baldur's Gate still sticks out as the game that really changed my mind about role playing games. Skyrim has also impressed me more than many others in the past.

How long have you been in the gaming industry and what got you interested in it?

Let's see if I can share this as briefly as possible. In high school I had the chance to work with some known game websites because some people recognized my daily (if not hourly dedication) to my hobby website about C&C and Quake (the original game titles).

That's really how it all started. I was attending E3 and GDC not long after obtaining these freelancer positions. Back then I did everthing from daily news updates, game data entry, game info guides, and website design. I didn't really think I'd work in the game industry. Gaming was a part of my life and the freelance positions fell into my lap.

Believe it or not, living in the city there's much less fast food chains. We have them near work, but you still have to walk 4-5 blocks to get to some of them. I don't really eat at fast food chains these days. The mom and pop shops are the best places to visit in the city.

I have a sweet ride (Aprilia Motorscooter) and a truck. I'm not a fan of driving a car.

what are your goals for these forums? do you feel that you have achieved those goals?

Community isn't made up of only the forums, but we do consider it as an important functionality. There are plans to make things smoother for the gamespace forums in the coming weeks, but that's not the only concerns we've had over the years. Our goals around forums is mostly about evolving what our members need. Right now, our forum functionality is outdated. Users need better functionality and ways to control what they see in the forums. Moderators should not be the destination to clean up issues, we'd like our members to control their environments with ease.

Instead of staff or mods destroying the monsters that visit our community, why not give you all the way to do it? That's our motto anyways. ;)

We have been researching solutions for quite some time. I'm hoping to see better functionality around E3 or Comic-Con this year.

I'm days late. Apologiez! Well, I got in some DLC over the past week to prepare. Then, I jumped in a 24 marathon for 8 hours (4pm until midnight shift) and STILL, I can't get enough! ;)

just a few quick questions: 1. how hard is it to balance what you really want to say or do (even post TOU change) versus what you actually say and do on here? -do you wish you had even more 'freedom'?

The good news, I was not doing the ToU changes alone. We had tons of meetings with other departments and a pool of staff assisting with the idea of change. While I did deal with our legal department to consider change requests, most of it was team effort.

2. how do you feel about someone on the GS staff being so petty as to change Xaos' settings to private (though I see you said that was a 'bug) and, even worse, changing his avi? *note that he left the site peacefully and scrambled his password It seems really childish IMO To go off of that. Do you feel that makes all staff members look bad? Do you wish they would stop such behavior?

I checked his account status and he last logged in from Korea. I'm going to disable his access. He can contact support for assistance.

3. how often do you read unreported pm's or do you at all? (it was confirmed that this can and does happen...that staff members read pm's that were not reported. Which is fine; it is a private site after all).

People must report abusive private messages or contact us directly if they want us to investigate it further. I think you're concerns are very outdaded and related to the old days when we used to care about people aggressively trolling or flaming our members.

Fast forward to our new ToU policy and you've got new procedures. The thing that gets people on our radar these days includes the following: illegal activities, severely offensive content (death threats/etc), or advertising. If you're afraid of an investigation, don't share share that stuff!
