I currently live in New York City, where the price of living, in addition to everything else is very expensive. What are some alternate locations where someone with only some college education can make a decent living and have an affordable place to live?
Texas. You can find apartments with rates as low as $325 with all utilities paid for including internet and tv, washer-dryer set, and mostly furnished. Houses are also much cheaper here too.
Wichita Kansas is pretty dirt cheap to live. I'm currently renting a house with some guys. I pay $150 a month for rent + utilities. Plus it's close enough to Texas that fuel is cheaper and the food prices are lower than the national average.
I'm utterly sick and tired of my current situation. I live with people who resent me because I make the most money, despite the fact that I pay the most to stay here and that one of the tenants is unemployed and has no prospects of getting a job due to not having a high school education. There's also the fact that I hate my job and don't get paid much, and that I get stereotyped all fucking day long. I don't even know why I haven't killed myself yet. I rarely have time to myself because most of my time is spent working and commuting to and from work. I'm nothing more than a low level corporate slave. **** this shit.
Not in Illinois that's for sure, tax are high, rents are high, and unemplmt high, residents moving out of this areas are high too.. I live here and I'm planning on moving to Texas.
Most of the center of the nation is about the same. The the major coastal cities...NY, Boston, Philly, D.C., Seattle, L.A., San Francisco...will be much more expensive that the rest of the nation. The South East is usually the cheapest.
move down south. i stay in columbia sc. cost of living is cheaper then the bigger cities down here but finding a job that pays decent money.... now thats another story. plenty of minimal wageish jobs.

This list compares cost of living vs average wage. Avoid San Jose/Silicon Valley if you aren't in the tech industry because it will be almost as expensive as new york and your wages won't be that high.
Well, Vegas was hit hard by the housing market downturn so houses are still pretty cheap. Don't know what kind of work you do, but I personally don't know anyone that was unemployed for more than a few months.
Best part of Vegas is that it's a desert, which I love. You can be in the mountains in a half hour, or the lake in 30 to 45 min. There's a place called Red Rock Canyon with beautiful hikes. If you're a party guy or want to reinvent yourself as a party guy, we party harty all the time. The best cities are only a few short hours away and several national parks are pretty close as well.
Vegas BABY! Come join the Rebellion!
This is Red Rock Canyon:
Aren't they nice looking:)

As you can see, we welcome black people into our University and into the Rebellion. (Unlike STDSU)

I'd just like to add: Fvck gamespot for not letting us preview the dam posts and not being able to edit correctly. Herp Derp, its being worked on, amiright...
I think Texas and Florida both have no state income tax, and I've heard that in Texas you only have to pay $50 for each car as far as property taxes on cars go. Also I think in Alaska there is no state income tax and the state even pays people to move in and own property.
Definitely not in Chicago because taxes are stupendously high and same could be said about the unemployment rate. Taxes and the standard of living in Denver, Colorado, and the western states (Except California) are pretty great.
Colorado is a relatively high cost of living actually....
