Poll: Light or Dark (New Gamespot Edition) (49 votes)

Light 10%
Dark 92%

Which theme do you use? Light or dark?

for the past 3 years of my 5 year tenure here, i have used the Light theme.

i just find it more crisp and better looking.

i know the poll will be one sided, but what theme do you guys use?

Dark by a lot, white is hard on the eyes.

The dark theme still looks wrong though. It looks blurry, the white text isn't bright enough or something.

Too much grey and it's hard to read things on the page due to lack of contrast.

Gotta go with the dark theme; the light one just sears my eyes.

Light. Dark takes longer to load.

Dark theme. For the usual eye reason.

How do you even switch to dark mode? Because the light mode is kind of annoying.

Didn't notice there was a dark theme.

Glad to see it's still available.

Funny, a lot of people say the light theme makes their eyes hurt. But the dark theme makes my eyes hurt, so I always use the light.

Dark. The light version looks unfinished, and i tend to be in my room with the light's off when i'm on the PC so it hurts my eyes. :/

I use the dark theme. The light theme doesn't hurt my eyes or anything but it just looks wrong to me.

I always used dark, but I mostly come here from my phone and the light looks good. Not sure I get the choice from mobile, bit it looks crisp as hell so I am satisfied.

Dark takes my vote, I never used white anyway.

Dark all the way. I only use light if I want to light up my entire apartment at night :P

Used light for years on the previous forum, but I think dark is better for this layout.

You must have lizard eyes if you like the light theme. Idk why new the site set it to that theme for default.

I'm not sure how someone could use the light theme. It's incredibly high contrast and very hard on the eyes.

Dark!

The light theme looks awful, way too darn bright.

i have always prefered the dark one, so it's the best one for me

White isn't bad on a dimmer, smaller screen, especially in a well-lit room.

The light theme isn't bad on this site, I used it for awhile then realized I liked the dark a little more. HOWEVER, on the old site the white theme just hurt my eyes. So bright..

Light.

I used to use the dark on the old site, but on this new one it's hard on my eyes. I feel like I need to squint just to read the text on here with the dark theme.

Lizard eyes? lol, no, I just have my monitor properly calibrated. I understand most people don't take the time to do this, but that's on you.

It's not even white, more of a light grey.

I have mine calibrated as well, and I still don't like the Light theme.

It's one thing not to like it, yet another to say it burns your eyes. If it burns your eyes, you need to calibrate your monitor.

I am in a bit of a quandary. I have never discovered how to switch themes.

#45 Posted by Shadow-Phax (50 posts) -

I really don't like the new layout at all. I like the old one much better. I'm just happy it still has a dark option. I guess every web page changes the layout eventually except for one. Google. Google looks the same as it did with few changes. Simple, effective and familiar. I notice that every web site that changes often seems to have a major drop in users like Yahoo did.

i switched to the dark too see if the white was indeed hurting my eyes. after seeing how many people said that it did. i dont know, i dont think so. ill probably switch back and forth once i get tired of each. the white does have the advantage of not having wonky text. i think im the only one that has their text iffy as cuss in tool tip popups on both and quotes when on dark; havent seen anyone else say anything about it.

http://oi42.tinypic.com/14scrab.jpg

pre reload boards, i used white. it made the forums look just a bit newer than the dark.

by the way. calibrating does alot of good. especially on tvs. they have a thx tool on pixar dvds that i use alot.

#48 Posted by ferrari2001 (16967 posts) -

#49 Posted by KiIIyou (27146 posts) -

I've been switchin' between the two lately, takes a little while to get used to and once i do i switch back :D
