Anyway here goes. Thinking of using a LED TV as a computer monitor to save space (one less computer table) amongst other reason.

Appreciate any recommendations/early-warning that anyone knows of:

- e.g. will go up in smoke due to weird refresh rate, or

- e.g. text will never be sharp on LED tv or

+ e.g. I'm already using it .... must get a 1080p model and this and that etc.

Thanks in advance.

It's fine for me. I've been using HDTVs as monitors for almost seven years now. For the TV in the family room, I increased font size to Large within Windows (because I sit pretty far) and decreased the resolution a bit, either at 1600x900 or 1366x768 when I'm doing stuff in MS Office. Games, I left at 1080p.

I've been using a 24" Best Buy Dynex 1080p TV in my den for almost five years now. I just set the screen to Game Mode and I'm good to go. I use a dual monitor set up which consist of the 1080p TV and a PC monitor. I don't see much difference in quality although that depends on the TV. I think the Dynex functions better as a monitor than a TV although HD channels and Blu Ray look decent enough.

We do the same at work. We started using LCD TVs as monitors since 2003.

Yes its fine. Just remember that its a tv and don't leave the same image on screen too long. You dont want to get screen burn.
