So it looks like they really plan to release it next year. link

"Colin Trevorrow, who made his feature directorial debut on the no-budget Sundance pic Safety Not Guaranteed, is about to make a Tyrannosaurus rex-sized leap in scale for his next film. He has been set by Universal Pictures to helm Jurassic Park 4, the third sequel to the dinosaur franchise hatched from Michael Crichtons novel. Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes scribes Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver have written the script."

Never heard of this guy.:? I don't know what to say, I just hope it will be better than the 3rd one.

Eating radioactive donkey turds is better than the third one so I don't see how he can do worse. Also that movie he made seems to be good. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1862079/

Sadly it will probably be mostly CG and not look nearly as good as the dinos in the original.

Based on how they're rushing to get this into production,  I'm picturing the studio execs just trying to get a quick cash grab from name reconition alone...quality be damned.

But the CG was the best part. :) Without the amazing CG the movie wouldn't  have been so successful. The animatronics were great but the stop  motion was horrible.

Just imagine this first dino scene made with stop motion dinosaurs instead of full CGI. link

Yeah I fear that too but hey, at least we have Jurassic Park 3D next month.:P I can't wait to see it in the theater since I've never seen it on the big screen. :D

I bet it will open to be number 1 at the box office.

I'd put that as a "maybe". If for the only reasons being that G.I. Joe--which will open the week before--doesn't do too well, and that it'll be a family friendly alternative to Evil Dead, which opens the same weekend.

Why is it no one can come up with new ideas for movies? Or should I say, new ideas that aren't horrible.

You almost never hear of studios taking risks with unproven directors like this anymore.

I'd say the Gareth Edwards directing the 'Godzilla' remake is on par with this.

I wasn't too interested until they start announcing cast/potential cast members.
