***Of the 20th Century

The genres have been around since the early decades of the 20th century and have still remained active and relevant in today's world. They have remained relevant for a crazy amount of time, so the genres have had much time to mature and become vintage and sophisticated.

Additionally, Jazz/Big-Band defined an entire time period in American history. It is sometimes (unofficially) referred to as the Jazz Age. That goes to show how significant it at least was, and maybe still is.

On top of that, they are classy genres. The classiest.

That wasn't what I meant. I was instead alluding to the fact that it will most likely result in a heated quarrel and a number of tantrums about music and tastes etc etc

Only the 20th century?

Classical (as most people recognise it) has been around for centuries and is still relevant in the modern age of film and music.

Therefore, everything else loses by default.

I would agree, especially from a talent/creativity standpoint.

The only thing coming close nowadays is the Newgrass movement in Country/Folk.

Pop, Rock, Grunge, rap, etc... are all low talent gutter trash simpleton bullshit music.

Nothing the last 30 years comes even close to wiping the ass of the Genius presented in this single clip

Miles Davis has more talent in his heroin infused arm than the likes of The Cure, Nirvana, Ace of Bass, Luke Bryan, Coldplay, Nickelback, and whatever crap the kids are listening too nowadays.

those genres pretty much only apply to western music culture ;s the rest of the world dgaf

and your criteria of measurement is subjective, but even if we do entertain the notion briefly, classical music has jazz/bb beat as someone else itt already mentioned

if rap or rock was invented a hundred years ago they would also still be around, what about opera? its still around after hundreds of years. your reasoning is off.

you totally did, but that specification doesn't cut it, 'cos the genre only has its hayday in western culture

it needs to include the east for it to be globally successful, but it just doesnt have the same impact over there

Coincidentally the 60s are when music started becoming interesting again.

I like jazz, but let's be real, most of it (or at least the greats I've listened to) is instrumental improvisation over chords, IMO it just gets stale after a while and I go back to real songs.

It's just ignorance on your part.

Making blanket statements with no knowledge or Education tends to put you in that situation

pop is a very subjective label. You are aware that big band was the pop music of forties and fifties and some of the sixties? Some of the greatest musicians ever are from the Jazz big band era and that was what pop was during that time.
