[QUOTE="Laihendi"][QUOTE="whipassmt"] Elijah Wood is a bad role model, he broke Smeagol's precious how mean (he must be a socialist leftist since he didn't respect Sauron's right to his private property).

No way man. Sauron forfeited his rights for his crimes against the free people of middle earth. Sauron was at war against the free people (Frodo included), and it was a war of aggression that Sauron started. Frodo's actions were self-defense and therefore completely justified. Bilbo was a thief though.

Sauron was betrayed when the elves took off their rings and hid the rings. Elven-smiths could not have attained to their making without his lore and counsel. Plus what was Sauron supposed to do with those Numenorean imperialists landed on the coasts of Middle-Earth and subjecting the poor residents of the Harad?

The elves took off their rings because they realized Sauron was trying to use the rings to control them. The rings were the property of the elves since they made them. Sauron offered his services as an instructor as a gift, so the elves didn't owe him anything. Sauron was an evil tyrant. His claim to authority was therefore illegitimate and any willing person had the right to try to overthrow him.

If the greedy Elves had their way they would've kept all the rings for themselves, at least Sauron helped spread the wealth to other peoples such as the Dwarves and the men by giving them their fair share of rings. You may call Sauron the Great a tyrant, but who else would've governed the orcs after Melkor was defeated? Would have rather had the Orcs be ruled by a bunch of petty chieftains who have the nerve to call themselves the "Great Goblin"?
