In a 38-page decision, U.S. District Judge Daniel Crabtree, an Obama appointee, issued a preliminary injunction against the enforcement on Kansas law prohibiting of marriage rights for same-sex couples. The injunction is warranted, Crabtree writes, because of legal precedent and because state officials defending the law haven’t made a sufficient case they would prevail in court.

“Because Kansas’ constitution and statutes indeed do what Kitchen forbids, the Court concludes that Kansas’ same-sex marriage ban violates the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution,” Crabtree writes. “Accordingly, the Court grants plaintiffs’ request for preliminary relief and enters the injunction described at the end of this Order.”

A temporary stay was included as part of the decision, so same-sex couples will be able to wont be able to in Kansas until 5 pm Central Time on Nov. 11.

Kansas is my state.

Yeah I was pretty excited (for a few reasons) when it happened in my state (Indiana) as well.

As someone who actually lives in Kansas, but was not old enough to vote against passing this worthless ban the first time around, I'm pretty damn glad. 70% of voters voted for the ban back in 2006. 70. Percent.

For comparison, Prop 8 in California was like, 51% for 49% against.

That is great! Soon we'll have it in all 50 states. It is imminent considering how popular the idea of idea gay marriage is in the states and how increasingly popular it is becoming.

The gay marriage debate is like a wave pouring down towards a pebble. At this point it's clearly obviously that it will be legalized.

I don't even hear social cons mention this issue anymore.

Do they know they've lost?

residents of my town elected the same supervisor over and over again because she refused to raise taxes... of course behind the scenes the town was getting deeper and deeper into financial trouble.... eventually she couldn't play games anymore with the money and the bills came due. she got kicked out of office and we all got stuck with a 45% increase in property taxes. lots of fun

I cant wait for this to be a non-issue. Sexual orientation shouldn't matter in the slightest.

People in Kansas' 1st Congressional district (western Kansas) are absolutely insane. Their hatred for Obama rivals Republicans from Texas. They voted for Brownback (again) because he is anti-Obama. Seriously, that was the reason. They'll do it again too. Who cares that taxes are so low the state has no money to fund teachers and schools. No problem right? Assholes..

But, but.... trickle-down D:

EDIT: this just got me thinking, forget private sector. Who do conservatives think is going to fund schools if not with tax money? Is the idea to privatise literally everything? (legit question, I honestly don't know)

Gay(homosexual) marriage is not marriage. If you look up the words in a dictionary you will see they are not compatible with one another.

You are right... until the definition in the dictionary will be changed, which happened lots of times with definitions in the past. And prepare yourself because it will be soon.

I can't find any English language dictionaries that don't mention same sex marriage.
