When we installed Visual Studio 2008 a couple years ago, here is an email my boss sent around (I'm sure other developers like Spazz that had to watch this for 2 hours can related to the cheesy stock photos). I can't wait for the 2010 edition, which we will probably install this week:

This is the 4th or 5th Visual Studio to come down the pike and I would think that Microsoft would have learned how to use stock photography by now. They are supposed to inspire wistful images in my mind of what the experience of using their product might be like. Let me relate what really went through my mind as each of these images came on the screen.
"PastMy Prime" Lady
"I am 50-60 and Ismokeda pack a day for 40 years. I recently quit andhave begun coloring my hair. I have never seen a computer, much less used one, and the closest I have been to technology is an iPod my kids filled up with music and gave to me."
"Too Cool for Sunday School"
"I am a professional model and I can't believe I'm posing for pictures in a software install. I am attractive but not in a 'guys want to be me' kind of way. My tri-color L.L.Bean sweater is definitely way more than you can afford and you couldn't pull it off like me anyway. My unkempt beard and tousled hair prove that you are simply not cool enough to use software that would have me as a mascot."
"Freak Boy"
"Get me outta here! Somebody just pulled me away from the Burger King fry vat, clipped a security badge on me, and started taking photos! You want me to smile? Make it authentic? OK Here goes... CHEEEEEETH"
