America Has Been At War 93% of the Time – 222 Out of 239 Years – Since 1776

* Pick any year since 1776 and there is about a 91% chance that America was involved in some war during that calendar year.

* No U.S. president truly qualifies as a peacetime president. Instead, all U.S. presidents can technically be considered “war presidents.”

* The U.S. has never gone a decade without war.

* The only time the U.S. went five years without war (1935-40) was during the isolationist period of the Great Depression.

.....

Is the article true Americans?

@indzman: Depends on what you call a war. We call them conflicts now. But yeah, we have more war to come, many more bad guys to stop.

Depends on how you look at it but for the most parts, it's just proxy wars nowadays. War is hard business, Americans use them for there banks to fill there bellies so most of them are rather conflict wars, some are Guerrilla warfare.

The U.S. military has to do something between Europe's cries for protection.

This is the line they use to brain wash you. Wars aren't fought over good and bad. They are fought over resources and control of regions.

seems like it, though technically I think we are involved in "conflicts" as of late. The US doesn't declare war all the time; we usually just meddle around in other people's affairs, make them worse, then when an ally our ourselves are attacked as a result of said meddling, then we declare war.

But yeah, it really does seem like we are at war all the time. On the bright said, at least we have a well-trained, veteran fighting force constantly. Gotta train those new soldiers and officers somehow...

awww I made myself sad...

We = Al Qaeda in that conflict. Good guys you say.

Then we fought Al Qaeda and now they are the bad guys.

All "bad guys" means is the people that America decides to fight for whatever reason, which is always different than the one they tell you. This is why the rest of the world holds such a low opinion of us.

When we invaded Iraq on false pretenses we were the good guys. Tell that to the innocent people we killed in that war.

This isn't sports. This is real lives we are talking about. Rooting for the home team is not the way to look at these things.

Problem is we allowed the banksters, Israelis, and other corporate interests to take over the cia, and other secret agencies. The whole thing got out of hand when we let them assassinate our own president without any repercussions.

If you wanna be nitpicky, the US hasn't been in an actual war since WW2, the last time it was officially declared :P And that one never ended, it's just been in a cease fire since

The only time the U.S. went to fight a war by themselves was the war of 1812{war on Canada} and Vietnam. Both wars lost.

They didn't back Al Qaeda they backed the northern Pashtun tribes lead by Ahmad Shah Massoud. The rest of the assholes who showed up as jihadi mujadoucheen were foreign fighters like Osama bin deadin from Saudia Arabia.

@wis3boi: wait, you're not just confusing it with North/South Korea here?

The US waited until 1951 to leave the war state with Germany sure, and the Russians waited until 1955. The ceasefire came much earlier.

The US' last two wars were Afghanistan and Iraq and both failed. They are now "at war with ISIS" but have yet done anything to achieve their goals in eliminating ISIS.

They do a good job of creating these groups but a lousy job of eliminating them.

It's true and my advice for the world is don't ever forget it. We are deranged, dangerous and highly motivated by whatever fantasys we want to cook up. I would personally eat apple pie out of your hollowed out skull just like mom used to make and I'm the most peace loving person I know.

Like I said Mesome713, this isn't sports and it's not some PS4 vs Xbone thread. I'm as liberal as anyone but to say everything Democrats have done was right and everything the Republicans have done is wrong is a gross simplification of the truth. Both parties have been war mongers pretty much equally. Berny Sanders on the left isn't and Rand Paul on the right isn't. They are exceptions to the rule.

Europe is the one asking for it. Maybe direct your anger at them for their unwillingness to take their protection into their own hands.

War is for the profiteers. War protects our our dollar hegemony and petrodollar status. National Security is also about protecting the economy and invading nations for economic and geopolitical interests. Those who can't see war for what it really is, is living in a fantasy.

War is sometimes to protect ourselves when we've pissed off the world.

Just remember, the US has only been doing this for a few decades. Relative to the brutal history of Europe, Asia...hell, even Native Americans, we still have a long, long way to go before we get anywhere near those levels of abuses.

Ireland had like a 500 year old war, and so did The Middle East. Look at the entire continent of Africa. There are areas of the world where war is constant and it's not just conflicts every so often like the U.S.. Stop picking on the United States and look elsewhere.

@brimmul777:

U.S. didn't lose the War of 1812, especially if you include the Battle of New Orleans.

As for Vietnam, had the government decided to go full force rather than half-assed, U.S would have won easily, not another country on earth could have stopped us. But it was a testing ground unfortunately.

Vietnam was never a threat to the U.S. anyways. It was thought that losing Vietnam would start a domino effect of communism (or perhaps that's what they wanted us to believe) in that region....didn't happen.
