Is it worthwhile for me to get a TV bigger than 50 inches?

Im gonna buy a new TV and im not sure what to do. I currently have an LG smart 3dtv that is 42 inch and its awesome, but i wanna go bigger. I was planning on getting a 48inch, but there are seriously good deals on LG and Samsung smart Tvs that are 50 - 55 inch. My worry is pixel density. I have my current tv about 10 ft away from my bed. Since 1080p is the same no matter the size of the tv im worried that the quality will be reduced because the pixels are going to be bigger.

Am i worrying for nothing or is it a bad idea to get a tv this large?

10ft away is probably enough. Go hard or go home is the model to live by.

@Master_Live: Samsung is the only reputable company making plasma anymore. They have a low end model and an ultra high end model. Nothing new, just models carried over from last year. I think LG has a couple plasma tvs but their plasmas are complete garbage.

I would recommend a Sony LED over the Samsung or LG personally. Excellent response times on their tvs. If you're a competitive gamer, Sony is the only tv for you in the larger sizes.

Between Samsung and LG. I think LG tends to get the better response times. Samsung tends to have better screen uniformity and black levels.

Though it sounds like you're also looking at the bargain tvs anyways so neither one of them will be exceptional in any way. If you're shopping in that $700-$1000 range I may go with the LG. IF YOU WERE TO BUMP UP TO THE $2000 range I would look at the Samsung.

Apologies for the caps.

@prawephet: I bought my 65 inch Panasonic for 1,200 plasma and CNET had it with one of the lowest rated response times best TV I've ever owned problem is its a tad too small. I sit 5 1/2 feet away when playing

@Master_Live: ignorance really the guys talking about pixel density when he sits ten feet from the TV. There is tons and tons and tons of info about viewing distance and so on. There's a point of diminishing returns on all TVs and for a 65 inch TV about 6 and 1/2 feet is called the sweet spot. Any further and you start to reach the point of diminishing returns. So yeah when your talking about pixel density at 10 feet I roll my eyes.

I have a 75" 4k tv and it's cool, however, you get used to the size pretty fast.

I've got a 50 in. Sharp TV and it is an acceptable size for me. In the end, TV size all depends on your personal taste and the room in which you are placing the TV.

I don't know tc.

Has anyone else been told that the obsession with large screen tv's is a "Guy thing." Several girls have told me this, and I just don't get why guys are more prone to this than girls.

@Serraph105: gaming is simply more fun on a bigger screen.

well that's undoubtedly true, but I feel the same holds true for movies and television as well. For instance I just got a larger screen recently and my gf and I watched Star Wars the despecialized edition (because eff you Lucas that's why) which is simply more enjoyable to view now than it was on my old 32 inch.
