Yes or no?
IMO, no, but I'm one of the few that hates the wife in Breaking Bad to the point that I didn't like watching the show. I still need to finish the last 4 episodes but just can't bring myself to do it. Seems like I just don't really care what happens to any of the characters because they aren't really all that likable. I think Jesse is the only one I cared about at all.
Sopranos I've watched upwards of 10 times from beginning to end and could watch it again now with no problems.
Having watched both I can say that while the Sopranos was more innovative and had a wide cast of great actors, Breaking Bad was the more entertaining show. Vince Gilligan stopped it after five seasons when it was at the peak of its popularity, the Sopranos went on longer than it should have and ended poorly in comparison to Breaking Bad's.
They're two different shows with two different styles and both great in their own right. I just preferred BB and think it was a better show as at no point did it not have me on the edge of my seat.
I'd say yes. I enjoyed Breaking Bad from beginning to end. I lost interest in the Sopranos after about season 3 and really didn't care what happened.
This, Sopranos was epic for the first few seasons, and they clearly ran out of ideas by the time they had that whole, writer from that movie hangs out w/ the nephew who wants to be a writer...
Then again, those bad parts of Sopranos are essentially the root kit for Californication
Definitely. The Sopranos was a little bit all over the place in terms of quality. The CGI dead grandma scene is one of the worst things put to screen, of all time.
Breaking Bad was really exciting to watch, but not much to reflect on. The Wire was kind of exciting to watch, but left a lot to reflect on. The Sopranos wasn't that exciting to watch, nor did it leave much to reflect on.
I enjoyed The Sopranos much more than Breaking Bad. I just finished Breaking Bad a week or two ago, and while good, I didn't see what all of the fuss was about. At least The Sopranos had funny moments along with the drama, and I found the characters in The Sopranos much more likable and relatable as human beings.
There were just too many characters in Breaking Bad that I did not like. I hated Jessie, Skylar, Marie (Skylar's sister), and those damned neo-Nazis.
Yes. By a lot. And I'm not even a big fan of Breaking Bad. Frankly, I think The Sopranos is horribly overrated.
The Wire, Battlestar Gallactica, and Justified are far superior shows.
Soprano's really ran out of steam by the end. Breaking bad was hot all the way through for the most part but really It owes alot to the Sopranos so I can't slight the writing of that classic too much. even if I don't agree with the Neo Nazi's completely shitting on Whites business, to me that was sloppy writing and it was evident they just wanted to end it.
The best part of the sopranos wasn't the writing itself, but the actors playing the roles. Gandolfini Was Tony . Pauly walnuts and Silvio along with Michael? c'mon now.
I still really love how the Sopranos ended. One of the most interesting finales to a show ever, that diner scene was just wonderfully constructed.
