Also, would you still use it to clean your ears or is that a wasted cotton swab?

Yes, it makes a very quiet sound, so does when a tree falls in the absense of a human. Why are people still arguing about this?
I sort of find it amusing when I can weed out the users that don't read the actual post and just the topic title.

No, it does not make a sound. Sound is not equivalent to light. Waves propogating through the air are equivalent to light. Sound is equivalent to an image. An observer is required to take those waves/light and interpret them into something meaningful (sound/image).
No, I would not use it.
[QUOTE="CoolSkAGuy"][QUOTE="Jandurin"]i've never used a q-tip beforeJandurinhow about a cotton swab? nor that ewww thats nasty
I am unclearabout the question because there are so many variables that have not been given, so I will givepossibilities. Is someone around the cotton swab when it falls or not?Aq-tip or any other cotton swab would make a sound if it hit the ground, even if it is inaudible to humans. This isproven true whenthere is some living creature to send it plummeting to the ground and also observe it or there is any sound recording device to receive the sound. However, the unprovabletree in the forest theory remains. If there is nothing to observe it, then how would anyone know? Although, I beleivethe cotton swabwould still make a sound when it hits the ground even though there is nothing to observe it.
[QUOTE="Jandurin"][QUOTE="CoolSkAGuy"] how about a cotton swab?CoolSkAGuynor that ewww thats nasty why would you say that?
[QUOTE="Jandurin"][QUOTE="CoolSkAGuy"] how about a cotton swab?CoolSkAGuynor that ewww thats nasty It's generally regarded as a bad practice to use q tips to clean your ears.
Again, it depends on the definition of sound. If it's the actual air vibrations, then it does make a sound, because these will exist regardless of whether someone/thing is there to receive them. If it's the actual process of a receiver receiving the air vibrations and converting them to something that would be registered as sound, then there would be no sound created if nobody/thing was there to receive it.I am unclearabout the question because there are so many variables that have not been given, so I will givepossibilities. Okay. I now understand. I was indeed wrong and my post worthless but I learned something.
Depends, is God listening? Vandalvideo
You sir are perhaps the only person that could turn this thread into an philosophical/religious debate. I wish I had skills like those.
Depends on the definition of sound used. If you mean sound as in what happens when vibrations in the air stimulate a sound receiver, like an ear or a microphone, then technically no, it doesn't make a sound if there is nothing to pick up those vibrations. It was just air vibrating at a certain frequency. If you define sound as the actual vibrations generated in the air, then yes it would make a sound. And even a cotton swab would make some kind of noise/vibration if you listened close enough. Also, I might still use it, depending on where it landed.cjekThe first description isn't a proper definition of sound though is it? Basically sound, light, gravity etc. isn't relative to someone perceiving it. They are mind independent instances of nature.

But there are still ungiven key variables.
[QUOTE="Jandurin"][QUOTE="CoolSkAGuy"] how about a cotton swab?spazzx625nor that How do you clean your ears, then? They don't :| (im guessing)
