alrighty, stay with me here folks.

Christianity is about God, who has a son named JESUS

let's break that down.

G-Zus

G's us

G is us

What is G? well, my friends, G is God.

Jesus is telling us that God exists in every one of us, and is not necessarily some all-knowing, all seeing greater being. he's just that part of us that tells us not to murder our neighbor or makes us feel guilty for cheating on a spouse and wants us to do well to others.

What do you guys think? I think its a nice thought. too much trouble is brought from the "there is no god vs. god rules" stuff, so why dont we all just agree to disagree and say that God exists in the people?

I'm not sure whether this would be a good point in time to point out that his name was Ιησους Χιστος and that "Jesus" is a Romanization of his name... :P

Because God doesn't exist in the people. If he did, he wouldn't have slaughtered all of them with a giant flood, or had them do things that were clearly so bad that stoning was the only option.

Nice try.

I agree with the whole, God = Us thing on a conceptual level. I think energy moves between all living (and even non-living) things. I think you can think of the Earth as one big organism because everything is connected. What affects one thing creates a ripple effect throughout. I think we are capable of both divine and savage acts. I think we are ying and yang combined.

Unfortunately, such a good idea will never be accepted by all. It's too easy.

To be human means to fall into the same traps and shortcomings. The mentality of US and THEM will ALWAYS be a part of humanity. Someone always has to be right, and someone always has to be blamed. Someone is always a sinner or morally deficient, and someone is always a saint ...

Here is my counter: Bruce Campbell = God. God =/= Satan Satan = evil Evil = beaten by God in Evil Dead 1 & 2. I actually don't know what this has to do with anything but this thread needed Bruce Campbell.

Your turned a possessive into a contraction. I think that's really all that needs to be said here.

His name would have been in Hebrew...not Greek.

יֵשׁוּעַ (Yeshua), yes, but it's the Greek version that first begins to bear the similarity to the English name we have today. And, of course, "Christ" is from the Greek title, not the Hebrew.

How about:

"Hey Zeus!" -----> "Jesus"

Greek Mythology ftw!

a lot of studies seem to indicate that Jesus was actually called Yeshua (I probably didnt spell that correctly) the letter J didnt exist in the middle east back then.

EDIT: After a thourough investigation, I see others have posted this info as well.
