Man i got problems. I moved to a quiet neighborhood years ago, and its a dead zone, lots of grassy areas, and allot of space. Unfortunately after many years, it appears lots of homeless have started to slowly take over. Now i see them living under the trees, and in the bushes. Problem is i don't know how to ger rid of them, or why the city has not cleaned up. I see the put fences a couple of miles away, and now they seem to be moving down my way. What would you guys do ? There have been 2 fires right there under them trees, and one in my fence. Its always them dam safeway carts full of crap that catch fire. Its getting serious. Do i email the mayor's office, take video of all the homeless. Do i call the police, and hope they do something ? Or maybe i should offer him $50 bucks to get the heck away from my house. But then there is an issue that others might think there is a line here for free money for not moving. What to do ?

Lmfao!!! Sorry i shouldn't laugh. Hope something is sorted out that works for you and the homeless people. Though the latter part of that good will to all statement is pretty far fetched.

  • I would absolutely call the authorities when need be.
  • I would contact the mayor's office, it can't hurt.
  • I would look for preemptive ways to protect myself and my family (castle doctrine).
  • But I would also wouldn't make it known that I'm the one making move against them, you don't wanna become a target.

Be safe.

I think thats the best advice. Whatever you decide to do about homeless people you shouldn't make it known that it is you.

You should contact the major.

Also, the funniest topic I've seen this week.

Do not offer any money. Word will get around and they will swarm to that area. I would call the police. Just say that you feel threatened by their presence and that there's a bunch of kids that play in that area. They'll be gone in no time.

You could start a coalition to provide them housing. I'm aware this isn't the most practical advice for a person to pursue. Still though you could probably find a way to make a lot of money doing so.

If you invite them into your own home, they'll cease to be homeless and the problem will have been solved.

People need to find better solutions besides pushing them away to become someone else's problem.

@LexLas: Best bet is to probably call the cops.

Somebody should hand out automatic rifles and ammunition to those poor people so that they can claim, by force of arms, the share of the American Dream that has been denied to them.

I have to wonder about the age of some of the posters in this thread. "Let them into your home", "Build them a house"......lol.

I sure hope you don't start going out and beating up (or sometimes killing) homeless people for sport, some dickheads do that and I'm sure it started with a conversation like this. Look, it happens all the time. The neighborhoods you grew up in just aren't the same, no vigilantism is going to solve that, there's limits to philanthropy, if you want to avoid it, stay ahead of the curb, sell your home and move to a good neighborhood, city, whatever, where you can raise a family without having to look at human misery.

They enter your property, shoot 'em. If you have children their trespassing is a major threat to their safety. It's a threat to your safety as well.

Dude, wtf? Why would you even say such a thing? I mean, sure, "SOME" people have killed homeless people for sport. But exactly how common do you think that shit is? Some guy merely complains about the homeless, and the first thing you can think to do is to advise him to not go around beating and killing them for sport?

You know that most of the homeless in the US have mental disabilities but since there's no national healthcare system we can't help them. Once they violate the law then we can get them all the health they need. People can be judged on how they treat the weakest in their society, as americans we have failed that test completely.

Unfortunately I don't think there's anything the police can do unless they are breaking the law. If it was me, I would just consider moving, since your homeless problem is just a byproduct of a larger issue within your community.

It really boils down to WWJD.

I completely agree. People are really callous on GS.

And while realistically most people can't invite homeless people into their houses, they should be treated with more compassion.

What I heard is that they need to move to different spot every few days. Similar to you can't park a park without moving it for too long.

But, I recommend you to feed squirrels with lots of nuts on the ground. Because squirrels are you best friends and they are cute and you should love cute animals.
