How do you feel about nudity in mass media?

It doesn't matter to me how nudity is presented in Media, it's really part of the Human body.

Since poll text is still messed up I'm copying the OP

So how with society has been moving along to different things, doing different things, and allowing certain things...how do you feel about media depicting nude bodies for titillation, shock, or any other reason? Have we, as a society, gone too far? Not far enough?

More importantly, as the poll asks: How do you feel about the amount of nudity in mass media today? What would you change to have more or less?

EDIT: I have seen way too much of the filthy nudity thing in social and mass media,so I pick it's filthy,it won't sell well for me.it's like I've seen one is enough,no more,people don't think well just because a woman with good aesthetic appearances showing off her "best". that's just wrong and immoral if you ask me.

I don't really care unless it's HBO where there has to be a sex scene every 2 minutes of dialogue; in that case it's just annoying to have to sit there waiting for them to be done with screwing each other so that the story can continue. Of course then there's 3 lines of dialogue and a blowjob...

They could take a page out of hentai's book and have them talk while banging.

I think 99.99% of the times it's unnecessary but directors go with it anyway for the lulz or something.

I think it depends on the movie or show. If there is some graphic sex or rape scene that is crucial to set the tone, then having the camera cut to clothes falling on the floor doesn't always work.

Anyway in regards to the topic at hand, I have mixed feelings. There clearly is more nudity than is "necessary", though some nude scenes can be handled well and serve a decent plot purpose (for example the scene in the movie and no one would tell where the girl is in the shower and you see the various bruises from her boyfriend who beat her up).

Also are we talking real nudity here, where actual private parts or shown or are we including nudity where the person is portrayed nude but you can't really see the actors genitals or breasts?

Now what I don't like is semi-nude billboards near highways and roads, those can distract drivers and cause accidents.

In the visual media, nudity just for the sake of having nudity is stupid. However if it contributes to the artistic integrity of the piece, whatever that may be, then there absolutely nothing wrong with it.

I don't care. Plenty of other countries have far more lenient rules on nudity and they seem to be doing fine.

That's objectively false. GoT actually has FAR more graphically violent scenes than it does sex scenes, interesting how people focus so much on the sex scenes. We're a very prude society, one where brutal violence is perfectly fine to watch, but a sex scene somehow needs to have a deep meaning. I'm fine with both, GoT depicts a violent and promiscuous world, therefore violence, nudity and sex are important to establish credibility.

I loved it when we visited Italy. They have XXX channels on regular TV.

I don't care, but it's annoying that it's so demonized in America sometimes. I don't get the fear and disgust of the human body. The same applies to sex in general. We're all here because of sex. O_O

I don't like it when the context of it is crass. Example : MTV girl in bikini because... yeah... girls in bikinis are good for ratings! Other than that, it's fine so long as it's not airing on Disney channel and the like.

The legal and technical infrastructures that are established in order to censor nudity and pornography almost invariably come to be used to censor ideas and to persecute dissent.

Consider, for example, all those various "online child protection acts" that US presidents enjoyed signing in mawkish, contrived little ceremonies, complete with living child props ...

The technical wherewithal that was needed to implement those acts gave rise to the vast array of tools that the NSA now uses to intercept and store every piece of e-mail written by any US citizen.

The distinction between an idea and one implementation of it is rarely made. The instance you cited discredits the American regime, not censorship. Rest assured that the NSA would have found another way to develop that vast array of tool irrespective of the pretext of nudity censorship.

In public I'm fine with nudity as long as it's not too sexually crude or graphic, but just folks being nude as in photography or advertisement I think it's okay and don't think it's a detriment to anyone's mental well being unless they harbor some serious sexual hang-ups. As far as the entertainment industry goes, in America I think it's still something of a serious problem and the general lack of casual nudity and sexual situations often harms the integrity of the films or programmes.

I really don't care about nudity in media, it's been vilified for more decades than it should be by a bunch of old men with erectile dysfunction. If anything I'd like to see addressed, it's the excessive violence in movies and tv today, but any action taken would destroy both those industries.
