too much sexy time

Zombies have always been scary. :? Vampires on the other hand haven't had a good reputation ever since Twilight. There should be a Dracula remake to bring justice to vampires.

creepy dolls and clowns are still scary. wouldn't that be lovely, a creepy doll and clown teen love movie

Shaun of the Dead

Twilight

Vampires were always more sexy than scary. Then Twilight happened and ruined that.
#7 Posted by FrostyPhantasm (8521 posts) -
I always liked Werewolves the best out of all the standard supernatural. Zombies are slow, dumb but just have numbers. Vampires are too damn sexy to worry about and itd be awesome to be one. Werewolves are srs bizz.

They can still be scary, it all depends on the film. Most vampire and zombie movies these days aren't even supposed to be scary. They're just soap operas with these things thrown in.

Beating a dead horse.

Vampires aren't scary because Twilight made 12 year old girls love them. Zombies aren't scary because they have been in 500 movies and games in the past couple years.

Twlight killed vampires, zombies became too mainstream.
#12 Posted by SaintLeonidas (26351 posts) -
Over-saturation. Especially with vampires. One thing that originally made them 'scary' was the mystique involved with their mythology which is completely destroyed at this point.
#13 Posted by Nibroc420 (13567 posts) -
Zombies - Move 1/2 the speed of people, eat flesh, and are dumb as ****. People are not the kind of animals who have razor sharp teeth and claws, we require our brains(spears, bow+arrow, guns..) and co-operation to hunt. Zombies lose the brainpower and resort to clawing. Vampires. well, Which sort? Twilight vampires aren't very...scary.

I don't think so. Anyone interested in a proper Vampire movie has most likely avoided Twilight and doesn't know sh*t about it, such as myself.

Also, Warm Bodies... But I just came in to say we're too desensitized by it.

Meh... I've seen Twilight with my girlfriend, but I've also seen the Blade Trilogy, Queen of the Damned, Bordello of Blood, Fright Night (original), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (movie and TV show), etc...

cause we do know how to deal with them now.

The vampires in Twilight are way scarier and more awesome than all the other ones.

#20 Posted by Inconsistancy (8091 posts) -
I don't think they were ever scary, but Twilight ruined any coolness they once had.
#21 Posted by MentatAssassin (3007 posts) -

Dracula: Dead and loving it was the movie that sploit it for me. Possibly could have been A Vampire in Brooklyn did it before that. Wait no, I remember. It was Once Bitten. Vampires havent been scary since.

#22 Posted by Jackc8 (8500 posts) -

I don't think vampires were ever really scary.  Maybe the old black and white Nosferatu guy was, but the rest were all corny or more concerned with the whole "I'm a good person but I'm forced to kill people because I'm a vampire" thing.

Zombies could be scary but most movies featuring them are 100% concerned with gore rather than scares.  They're usually really cheesy and stupid.

Both creatures could be really scary way if anyone decided to make a movie that featured them in that way.  But it's mostly lowest-common-denominator crap these days.

You can't really be scared of sh*t that sparkles or is the kid from Skins. Too mainstream now, I guess.
#24 Posted by hiphops_savior (7945 posts) -
Vampires start to sparkle in daylight, haven't you heard?
#25 Posted by CRS98 (9036 posts) -
World of Darkness made vampires cool, and then were ruined by Twilight. Zombies are the go-to for any media. We're spoiled by it now.
#26 Posted by The_Gaming_Baby (6337 posts) -

Aimed at too young an audience.

If I made a zombie film it would be designed to scare you rigid

#27 Posted by soulless4now (41381 posts) -

They're too attractive to be scary. Sexiness means more box office money for the studio.

#28 Posted by Sweetbackhair (1926 posts) -
Turning them into romance movies or books.
#29 Posted by applesxc47 (10761 posts) -

Vampires are gay and zombies have turned into go-to shotgun fodder.

It's scary when they sparkle.
#32 Posted by CKYguy25 (2180 posts) -

it's because Twilight ruined it

#33 Posted by Blueresident87 (5339 posts) -

Because Vampires were ruined by the media (movies, tv, etc...) and zombies have flooded the market...besides, zombies aren't what is scary, it's the disease that causes the zombies that is the big deal.

#34 Posted by THGarrett (2574 posts) -

Probably because they are overdone to the point where we've gotten used to seeing it.

#39 Posted by The_Last_Ride (72434 posts) -
Because they are everywhere now. Twilight also ruined Vampires for me
#40 Posted by kuraimen (28078 posts) -
They sparkle and get depressed when a human chick doesn't like them.
#41 Posted by lightleggy (16050 posts) -
Zombies were overused...there have been like over 50 media pieces about zombies in the last 5 years or so. and vampires lost it with twilight.
#42 Posted by MonoSilver (1525 posts) -
They've been done to death in films and games that just aren't scary. Like the Twilight films.
#43 Posted by Diablo-B (4049 posts) -
They were never scary

Meh, people are used to vampires and zombies. But, I think plastic surgery victims will be the next horror film stars? Just imagine turning a corner and bumping into one of these beauties, or waking up from a drunken night out to see one of these babes lying besides you snoring and drooling....:?

Dear Lord, and they actually dared to have their pics taken? This is real horrible. is that permanent or they can actually have something done about it?

Emotionally fragile vampires who only want to be loved.

Run and gun zombie montages.

30 days of night is on crackle so go watch that for free and zombies have never been scary.

they are the plot device that drives the story of what the humans in the story do to each other.
