Poll Here's an example of a "cool" party. Ever been to one of these? (35 votes)

Yes 57%
No 43%

if you've been to one of these, then you know you've made it to the top of the social ladder..see the plastic cups? that's a clear sign of "coolness" if you want to call it that. apparently every single cool party as one of those. so have you ever been to one of those?

No, and no thanks.

I'm much more content just getting drunk and stoned with 4 - 5 others.

This thread just made my day. It's been terrible and shitty, (worked 8 hours completely sick, throat so bad i couldn't even speak,) and this just made me laugh. And it hurt. But it was awesome. Thank you.

I grew bored with partying before I reached that point in my life. All my harsh partying happened when I was a teen and I grew out of it when I turned 18.

EDIT: After looking at the photo, it looks like a sausage fest, no thanks even if I was still into partying.

I gave up drinking when I started to get hangovers.

Am I still cool if I have ginger-ale in the cup?

I live in the UK so those plastic cups are not really a "thing".

Besides that yes I have been to plenty of house parties. Less expensive to drink. Ability to have a conversation. Potentially smoke. Great places to meet women assuming it isnt a sausage fest like the photo in OP.

Yes I have, and they're almost always overrated. Small get-togethers with close-knit friends are far superior (unless your goals are to hit on random women, then more power to ya). They're almost always too crowded to the point of immobility, the games require sign-up sheets with so many people. The music is usually too loud and horrible. So yeah, they're romanticized but the reality is they're not as great as they seem.

We are not strangers to sarcasm, and it is rather annoying using it with a condescending manner.

Parties are overrated, I'd rather smoke and drunk with some close friends. A lot of people mixed with a lot of alcohol can be a recipe for disaster and it usually just makes me nervous.

The only time I participate in one of these is if I'm desperate to get laid and I'm usually not that desperate.

I'd rather go to the club but we usually go to parties beforehand. Usually just a bit more extreme than that as they involve heavy drugs usage, no brodudes at the ones I go to though.

Yeah, but only a few during my college days. The ones I went to had a far better ratio than the one in the OP, and I wish I could've gone to more.

I see a lot of you are quite negative towards parties, but believe me they can be fun. I'm not a party type guy at all, despise clubs and things of that nature, but house parties always manage to surprise me.

Im 20 and I've been to many parties like the one above, and usually they are fun 50% of the time. It needs to be the right people, the right place, the right energy. Filling a house with booze and people doesn't make a party, I find that smaller house parties with cooler people always end up better than large house parties that are packed wall to wall.

You should always leave some time to un-wind man. Being productive and successful is a very stressful path, focusing on work all the time in order to have a good future often destroys the present. Of course plan for the future and be mindful, but don't look at socializing as a "waste of time", its something you need to do to stay balanced as a human.

Unfortunately, I lived in one of these houses during college. I never wanted to take a part of the party, but my roommate decided that he needed to party every weekend, trash the place and say i needed to help him cleanup because I was "part" of the party also. That meant staying in my room, going down there at 4 a.m. and telling them to quiet down so i can do my homework and/or get some sleep. Seriously **** these parties the people who go to them are retarded. I couldn't have a single conversation with these people because the only thing they looked forward to was their weekends, when they get drunk. Its just a sad environment of mentally disturbed people wandering aimlessly through life unable to cope.

Pretty much. There's a reason many of the most high-stress, heavy workload, difficult to enter careers for young people are also stereo-typically known as some of the hardest partying professions. If you work 80 hours a week you can bet you're going to blow-off some steam.
