That one can be a contender, it's certainly the schmaltziest trailer I've seen this year. But I present to thee my pick:

InAPPropriate Comedy

Which currently holds an impressive 0% at Rotten Tomatoes.

There's no point in "crying bs"

Much like there's little point in arguing with someone asserting "1+1=3".
Sometimes it's best to just ignore them, and accept that not everyone in the world prefers fact over fiction.

That's cool man. What you do or don't believe is your thing. Personally I don't know if this story is true or not.

@Stesilaus:

I just don't get how so much talent could get together on such a ridiculous project. The director, Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, Anthony Freakin' Hopkins. . .don't they know a bad concept when they see it, or do they just do it for the money?

I mean, did anyone ever think to ask why all these pre-Babylon Mesopotamians are British caucasians?

This is my prediction for the worst movie of 2014.

Not anything to do with this particular movie, but I've always thought that the way heaven was typically portrayed in mass edia was always a little bit f***ed up. like, you get rewarded by having anything you want, for the rest of eternity. For starters, that allows for the possibility that what you really want is stuff that that was deemed sufficient to ban you from heaven. Like, people become prudes and abstain from free casual sex because they think that's wrong and will get them banned from heaven, and then somehow think that they'll get rewarded with a heaven that's just an everlasting giant porno? That's stupid as $hit. If doing X act is enough to ban a person from heaven for the rest of eternity, then why the f*** would that person be rewarded with an eternity of that act after dying?

Another problem is the whole notion of meeting our loved ones after we die. Okay...that might seem fine from the perspective of one person, but doesn't the OTHER person get a say in that? What if my wife loves me and wants to spend eternity in heaven, but I've deemed her so goddamn insane and intolerable that I've filed a restraining order against her that says that says she can't come within 100 feet of me. Then we both die. Her ideal heaven is to be with me for all eternity, my ideal heaven is to never f***ing see her ever again. So...who wins here?

And don't say that we both get our wishes because heaven consists of an artificial simulation. If it's a simulation, like The Matrix, then it can't be obvious to the person experiencing it, otherwise that breaks te illusion. it lets you know that what you're experiencing is totally fake. It's like fantasizing about Heidi Klum and then being awarded with a heaven where you get to bang a wax sculpture of Heidi Klum for the rest of eternity. How is that heaven? You know it's fake, and now you're stuck with it FOREVER? That seems more like "ironic hell", as in "so you like donuts, do you? Well here are all the donuts in the world!"

But hey, maybe the simulation just SEEMS so real that there's no possible way for me to tell that the thing I'm banging isn't really Heidi Klum. Meanwhile the real Heii Klum is off in her own private heaven that doesn't include me. Well, that's f***ed up too. If you make an artificial duck that is so lifelike that it is impossible to distinguish from a real duck, then it is a REAL duck. If you make an artificial intelligence program that is so lifelike in its feeling and thinking that it's impossible to demonstrate that it isn't really thinking and feeling, then it IS really thinking and feeling. This means that even if Heidi Klum gets her own private heaven free from me, there is a heaven in which I get to completely and utterly own Heidi Klum for all eternity. And yes, that IS the real Heidi Klum. It's just that she got copied, and now she's in heaven AND hell. One Heidi Klum is totally happy and in bliss, the other Heidi Klum is in constant suffering and misery for all eternity because she is MY reward. But they're BOTH totally f***ing real which means that heaven consists of forcing someone else into a personal and eternal Hell.

But gee...maybe all of that could be avoided by simply making people happy with whatever Heaven is. Well...that's just MIND CONTROL. It's basically date rape, only it lasts for all eternity and there is no f***ing escape. Professor X can control minds, which means that he absolutely has the ability to bang any woman he wants and make her either forget it or be glad that he did it. Do you know why he doesn't use his powers that way? Because doing so would be absolutely f***ing EVIL.

Anyway, the concept of heaven as presented in mass media and pop culture has always sort of pissed me off.

Can't speak for the others, but I'm pretty sure that Anthony Hopkins has publicly stated that he totally just does a lot of movies for the money. I don't have a source to back that uip, and I actually even like Anthony Hopkins as an actor. But considering the absolute f***ton of garbage that he's been in over the years, I can't help but to not believe that this is the case. I do think he's a talented person, and accepts roles in garbage movies on a not-entirely-rare basis. It'd be one thing if it were a fluke, but he appears in trash so often that he MUST just be doing a lot of it for the money. It's like Nicolas Cage. He's sort of become a joke, but the man can put in a good performance when he wants to. But a lot of the time, he just accepts whatever is thrown at him and then halfasses it on set because him and everyone else knows that he doesn't give a $hit and is just doing it for the money.

I'm not sure exactly where the "mass media' views of heaven came from, but it was influenced by modern American protestant culture. I prefer Pope Benedict's explanation of it:

"All of us today are well aware that by the term "Heaven" we are not referring to somewhere in the universe, to a star or such like; no. We mean something far greater and far more difficult to define with our limited human conceptions. With this term "Heaven" we wish to say that God, the God who made himself close to us, does not abandon us in or after death but keeps a place for us and gives us eternity. We mean that in God there is room for us. To understand this reality a little better let us look at our own lives. We all experience that when people die they continue to exist, in a certain way, in the memory and heart of those who knew and loved them. We might say that a part of the person lives on in them but it resembles a "shadow" because this survival in the heart of their loved ones is destined to end. God, on the contrary, never passes away and we all exist by virtue of his love. We exist because he loves us, because he conceived of us and called us to life. We exist in God's thoughts and in God's love".................... "It is his Love that triumphs over death and gives us eternity and it is this love that we call "Heaven": God is so great that he also makes room for us."

Damn man that's so edgy and callous rofl.

You say Russel Crowe is partaking in this joke of a movie? Wow I kind of lost respect for the guy, I used to think high of him as an actor who only plays strong roles in at least decent movies.

Doesn't matter.

He's suggesting Religion X needs to "learn to justify [their deity] with realistic reasons other than mythical experiments and these shitty stuff"

Then calls Religion Y, "the voice of a true religion", despite that religion never having justified itself with realistic reasons.

Obviously. I mean accepting a role in such a mediocre movie with an idiotic plot that revolves around a KID's near death experience that granted him a pass to take a peek at heaven speaks heaps about the movie and the plot. There's no possibility that his role in such a movie would be of any professional or critical value. Any way I look at this it still comes down to the conclusion that Russel is such a trash actor after all.

Your proof that Islam is true, is quotes from Islam's Holy book?

Might as well say Scientology is true, and start quoting Dianetics.

I don't know. Having read both the Koran and Lord of the Rings, I'd say that God has some major competition in the bookselling market.

“If you are in doubt of what We have revealed to Our Messenger, then produce one chapter like it, call upon all your helpers, besides Allah, if you are truthful.” Surah al-Baqarah (The Heifer) 2: 23.

“Or do they say: “He (Prophet Muhammad, ) has forged it (this Qur’an)?” Nay! They believe not! Let them then produce a recitation like it (the Qur’an) if they are truthful.” Surah at-Toor (The Mount) 52: 33-34.

The creator tells mankind to bring a book like the Qu'ran and see if you can match it, the elite arabs of the time could not do it, no one else in the world could do it, and no one else will ever be able to do it.

A prose contest as the proof of god. This one I never heard before

I guess the complete works of William shakespeare clearly blew the lid off of that farce, then

I don't know. Having read both the Koran and Lord of the Rings, I'd say that God has some major competition in the bookselling market.

maybe god just needs a better marketing department...all of his salepeople seem to be blowing up somehow...

It's quite the PR nightmare

I feel like anybody that takes a 6 year old seriously on any serious matter is incredibly gullible and shouldn't be allowed to breed.

You guys are all so dumb ass. Islam actually proofs the existence of God with a lot of different reasons. I have heard so many of them that I can't actually remember some of them. Just search it or something. Besides Islam justifies why God should exist why he should be one why there should be an afterlife etc. Honestly I'll say that's challenging God himself unlike Christianity where you accept whatever lies they throw at you.

You must have scored very low in literature during your high-school. Because LOTR and Quran definitely are two different kinds of books. Also people watch and love porn more than a documentary on universe. It doesn't mean universe<<porn. Besides Quran says write "one chapter" like it. I'm sure there are many short stories in the field of LOTR that may be even better than it. But there is not even a single chapter that has the divine power and influence of Quran.

I love it when religious people argue whose invisible man in the sky is the real deal. Quote some more for us, would ya?

God is no invisible man (again unlike what Christianity thinks. That's why I said they better get out of the way) He doesn't look like men and no he didn't give his own appearance to men. God is unlike any thing as he has said in Quran. Let me brighten you. It's like complex numbers (if you know a little math) x^2 +1=0 is meaningless in real numbers. You will only understand it if you think of complex numbers instead of real numbers. No way you can understand what that means in real numbers. Same is with God. He is at least a superior set. You are an inferior set. You will never reach any conclusion about the first using the latter unless that conclusion exists in both sets( That's why Quran encourages us to look upon God's creations and take them as his signs) but about the rest of the first set you are speechless.

I'm Persian. We had great poets in our history like Rumi and Hafez. I dare say that your Shakespeare (with all respect) is much shorter than Rumi and especially Hafez. Hafez's poems are wonderful even in crappy English. Needless to say that Hafez had the whole Quran memorized (Hafez actually means someone who has memorized the whole Quran) and that may be the reason why his poems are so great.

@GrayF0X786: I hope one day Christians learn to justify God with realistic reasons other than mythical experiments and these shitty stuff. Or... Just stop messing with Islam and let the people hear the voice of a true religion.

Implying that Christianity is false and "unrealistic", and that Islam is "the voice of a true religion"

lol.. the creator of literally EVERYTHING IN EXISTENCE is petty and insecure enough to have to challenge mortal humans to a book writing contest? that is the most ridiculous thing i've heard in a while..
