This isnt about shows like The Wire or shows like that, that show what happens with the plight of many people. I am talking about the shows that cant even find a reason for being provocative like that William H Macy show, its like someone without a soul wrote that show. It remind's me of that joke that Paul Mooney said about the movie Precious, "the Devil made this" lol.

I heard they have a new show called Newsroom, I wouldnt be surprised if someone was having sex on a desk in that show. Like why would we need to see sex in a show about foreign policy and pollings?

I guess I can see what you mean by sometimes shows seem to put nudity or stuff in randomly on shows when it makes no sense.

And I watched the first episode of The Newsroom on Youtube. Daniels diatribe at the beginning was great, but other than that the show was so-so.

i noticed in Sopranos, Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire that each episode has to feature gore and/or sex in them. every single one.

and i'f i'm wrong, it's the exception, it seems like every single one has one or both elements in there.

not saying it's bad, or good. it's a bit predictable if anything. it's just an observation.

for the sopranos and boardwalk empire, im assuming its to highlight the notorious gangster lifestyle, that is filled with gore and sex (at least for the sopranos, it makes sense because a lot of the show is about tony's decadent lifestyle). Im guessing hbo does it just cause they can, i'm sure plenty of adult aimed shows want to do it but probably dont because of audience ratings (Tv14, etc).

In theory i see absolutely nothing wrong with the sex, i mean, so many shows show people in bed with each other. I dont see seeing an extra boob or penis here or there any less of a dirty experience. The idea is already there. I dont understand the sex for game of thrones though, it just seems to be there to be there. Especially the prostituion lesbian scenes, those add nothing to the story imo.

Yeah, I get what TC is saying, the fact that is in there so much can be a bit out of hand, but hey that's why it's premium cable, people almost expect sex and gore on these shows. It can also be equally annoying when basic cable or network shows focus on premises surrounding violence or sex, but time and time again find ways to cut away, sure they don't need to show it everytime, but never showing it can sometimes be just as annoying as always showing it.

To answer your question about Newsroom, it's fine if you don't want to see those things, but sexual relationships among colleagues are far from uncommon and interest many people, so it's not hard to figure why these aspects might be in the show.

The Newsroom is the tamest HBO show I've seen. It does not show gore and barely shows sexual content. Don't see a reason to bring up that show.

If the human body scares you, why not poke your eyes out. That way you never have to see another human body ever again.
