Seeing it tomorrow. You see it in 3D dave? I've heard it is a rare film in which the 3D is actually quite good.

Loved it, probably my favorite marvel film.

#15 Posted by LZ71 (10273 posts) -

I had no idea what to make of it to be honest. The first trailers I saw I was really turned off, like they're really milking this comic book trend as much as they can. But from watching more footage and hearing other's opinions that it seems more self-aware than I thought, it might actually be great fun. I probably won't see it in the theaters but I'll catch it when it comes out on video.

Waiting for it to come out in Blu-ray.

@LZ71: this probably has the most fun and laid back tone of the Marvel movies.

I think it comes out in September here so I'll be seeing it then. Good to hear people liked it.

Saw it at the 7:00 pm premiere in Imax 3d. It was the one summer film I was looking the most forward to and it did not disappoint. It was a fantastically fun film. I'm probably going again sometime today.

@LZ71: reviews are raving about it, lmdb has I think 93% and even rotten tomatoes is about 92% and they're not easy to please. I really really want to see it but might just wait for the blue ray.

It's worth seeing it in theaters, preferably in 3d. They worked very hard on the special effects and the 3d and those can't be fully appreciated on a home television. Definitely need to see it in theaters at least once.

I was planning on seeing it, but lately the negative reviews have been bringing me down.

I'll probably just wait till it comes out on blu-ray.

#27 Posted by jasean79 (2357 posts) -

I wasn't too impressed with the previews. I'll probably wait until I can rent it on demand. Don't know if it's worth the $10 to see it in the movies.

The majority of the reviews have been very positive, from what I've seen. Can't possibly be worse than some of the other movie that came out this summer.

I was joking on the boyhood bit. You were posting that in every thread about a week ago and figured you'd understand my intent. lol

I'm seeing it later today.

@jasean79: jasean I encourage you to treat your family to this movie

#34 Posted by SaintLeonidas (26051 posts) -

I have to let it settle for a bit, but I honestly wasn't blown away. Sort of redeemed itself in the third act, but everything up to there was just dull with a shiny visual based varnish.

Saw it this morning, awesome movie! Easily one of my favorite marvel movies!

Question, was there a after credit sense when the movie is over? Going to Guardians of the Galaxy Sunday night.

Head there was...another site spoiled it for me. I won't reveal anything, though.

Spider-Man 2 was a good movie, and this coming from a long-time Spidey fan who actually had Amazing Spider-Man 121 and 122 back in the 70's.

Sure, there was a lot of romantic moments but it was necessary to portray great love between Peter and Gwen.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I don't even have a problem with the romantic subplot, that never bothered me. What did bug me however...

Was that Gwen Stacy's death was treated as nothing more than a plot point as opposed to something that should have been treated with more meaning. She dies, and you spend a few minutes with Peter brooding about her death and giving up being Spider-Man--until Rhino shows up again (whose inclusion in the movie is totally wasted), then all of a sudden he decides to put on the costume again. Her death was simply glossed over, and what is one of the defining moments of the comic's history is simply glossed over as nothing more than what's on a studio's checklist for what should have been included in a Spider-Man sequel. The whole thing makes her death come off as trivial and meaningless.

That was just one of the many problems I had with the movie. After the reviews came in and the less than expected gross at the box office, it's no wonder Sony decided to delay the third movie to 2018 in favor of fast-tracking production of the Sinister Six movie in its place. And I STILL don't get how making a movie with the villains only is a great idea.

Saw it today. Movie was fucking AMAZING! Insanely fun and enjoyable with a top-notch cast. Probably my fav Marvel movie now.

I caught a preview screening last night here in Australia, and it was one of the most entertaining blockbusters I've seen in ages. I think I like this group more than the Avengers crew, tbh.

Also, this film is visually stunning and full of laughs - so you have to see it with other people in an Imax theatre to get the most out of it. Don't wait for the dvd release.

#45 Edited by Serraph105 (27824 posts) -

So I just got back from seeing it and I want to get the good stuff out of the way first, catchy music, great visuals (seriously great visuals), lots of laughs, and the action was fun to watch. Also I particularly loved Drax and his way of particular brand of speech. Really most of the characters were pretty great.

The bad for me was that they never quite knew when to stop with the humor. When you are constantly making jokes it kills the tension of the action, particularly near the end just before the climax there was a moment with Star Lord and the film's main bad guy that just didn't fit with what was going on around the rest of the characters. Also I don't feel like we got a whole lot of reason for why the bad guy is bad and why his followers would ever get behind him (the actual characters that is).

All in all though I totally would see this movie again.

tops on my list to see

*Spoilers*

Ronan(and his followers) was a religious fanatic who believes in the old ways and is angry over the Kree's peace treaty with Xandar.

He won't let that peace treaty stand in the way of judging the Xandarians and destroying them all(Millions of people). Ronan was in leagues with Thanos, the higher and ultimate antagonist. However, when Ronan realized he could use the power of the infinity gem to overpower his superior(Much like how the collectors slave girl realized she can break free using the gem), he merged with it(using his weapon as a form of catalyst) and declared that after his personal matters were done he would go after Thanos. When those such as Nebula thought that Ronan can use the power of the infinity gem to overthrow Thanos, they quickly joined Ronans cause.

*Spoilers*

I felt that was enough to explain Ronan......he's still a glorified henchman though, but I personally don't mind.

Why do I get the feeling OP has certain fetish over the super hero. Not that it is a bad thing. *wink*.
