Step one:  Take text book.
Step two:  Open and read instructions.

It's too late for me to do algebra, so try learning it.  :P

the answer is suppose to be -2, but i don't know how to get that.... and a calculator can't do those kinds of equations....

You fail. I already have a headache from being stressed out too much and I broke down earlier. I don't need to deal with this...

I doubt I could have done that when I was 13...but I am horrible at math. I'm 19 now, and I still couldn't do it without a calculator. :P

Anyone know how to solve this: 3/x+4=3/2. If you can please explain every detail!!! ty =]torontogamer

(3/x) + 4 = (3/2)

First you subtract four from both sides.  But you need a common denominator.  The common denominator between the two is 2.  So, 4 becomes (8/2) and (3/2) stays the same.  You then subtract (8/2) from (3/2).  Our problem now looks like this:

3/x = -5/2   (remember, when subtracting/adding fractions, you only subract/add the numerators)

Now you have to isolate "x."  To do this, you need to divide 3/x by 3 to cancel out the 3s.  What you do on one side must be done on the other side, so you have to divide -5/2 by 3 also.  here is what we do:

1/3 * 3/x = -5/2 * 1/3         (multiplying by 1/3 is the same as dividing by 3)

The answer turns out to be this:

x = -5/6

I hope i'm right.

first get all of the like terms together in this case 4 and 3/2, so subtract 4 from both sides of the equation leaving you with 3/x = 3/2 - 4 now, do the subtraction, which requires you to restate -4 as -8/2 3/x = 3/2 - 8/2 do the subtraction 3/x = -5/2 now, you want to set this to have x in the numerator, not the denomonator so you multiply both sides by x x (3/x) = x(-5/2) the 3x/x can be simplified to 3 3 = -5x/2 multiply both sides by 2 to get rid of the denominator on the right 3*2 = -5x 6 = -5x divide both sides by -5 6/(-5) = -5x/-5 -6/5 = x

3/(x + 4) = (3/2) or (3/x) + 4 = (3/2)?

Why do people come here of all places for advice on their homework?Video_Game_King
Because this is a video game website, and people expect people on a game website to be nerds and people expect nerds to be good at math.... but thats not always the case..
