i need a new pair of headphones because my iPhone ones are kind of dying out and they're super quiet now. i don't wanna spend like 489898 dollars on a pair of stupid beats headphones but i still want some good quality sound. any suggestions you guys? i use headphones every single day so it's important, haha.

This. There are some guides out there.

Sennheiser is generally a really good brand and they have everything from quality budget headphones to great ultra high-end/expensive headphones. They're a much better brand than Beats.

@JML897:

Nice, I'll check them out. I did do a little searching online but I do like to get some first hand opinions too, just so you guys know. OT can be pretty helpful :)

@destinhpark: I'm confused because you said you are looking for headphones, but then you mention your ipod headphones are dying. Earbuds are what comes with an ipod, not headphones.

Anyway, if you're looking for headphones that are not noise-canceling, I just bought some wicked cheap JVC on-ear headphones from amazon that cost me $20 total, including shipping. They sound fantastic, they come in multiple colors, and I couldn't be happier with them.

If you're looking for noise-canceling headphones, I agree with the above posters that the Sennheiser 280 Pro is the way to go.

Though I am a big fan of Bose's noise-canceling headphones that fold, and have a durable hard case that protects them very well during travel. Obviously, these will cost about $100 more which is why I do not think they would be for you, though if you ever want to spend more money on NC headphones, I would recommend buying those instead.

I have a pair of Bose headphones that are 6 or 7 years old and still work perfectly fine.

Hate to break it to you but beats are terrible overpriced fashion wear. I use AKG headphones. i have three of their headphones at varying prices and none have ever gone wrong. The only down side is they're expensive, the cheapest one i own were $140 so they may not be in your desired price range

Spend at least $150+ on something from AKG, Sennheiser, Shure, or another major pro-audio brand. If you don't want to spend that much, then get whatever they have at your local walmart. It doesn't matter.

Better than Beats?

Pretty much anything. And they're all cheaper too.

I got these, love em to death. Half the bass quantity, triple the bass quality, and overall better sound quality. Yeah and it doesn't cost $300-$400+. You also don't need an amp like many of the upper audiophile stuff either, I always play it off my iphone.

Beyerdynamic headphones are pretty amazing. If affordability is an issue Koss headphones have extremely good sound quality and are quite inexpensive (as good as anything in the $100+ range for significantly less). They don't look pretty though.
