Maybe a day... not more than two. Had a friend who experimented with no sleep for more than 3 days. We poked him, carried him everywhere when he finally went to sleep. He woke up saying he didn't remember or feel anything.
Longest was around 50. Trying to function without sleep is a challenge, and sometimes I kinda like it. The brain always wins in the end though. And it's never a good ending..
~30-35 hours, I think. Pulled one like this just last weekend: I woke up around 10-12 in the morning, still half baked. Aunt and uncle of a mate's were outta town and he had to look after their place (and their cats and horsies). So we stayed there until like 4 PM, at which point I went home to prepare myself for this 1 nighter LAN at another mate of mine. We often pull these type of LANs on long weekends. We just set up our stuff in the afternoon and keep playing until lunch the next day. After I got home and set up all my stuff, I took a little nap, and went out for ye annual easter drinkathon! :D I survived perfectly, to my own amazement.
a few months ago i went 2 and a half days without sleep. had to travel and be in 3 places in two days. after the rush, i went into hibernation for about 10 hours. i rarely get sleep anyway, i mainly take naps with one eye open. :P
there was an experiment done years ago. 3 ppl went a full week without sleep..but it messed their minds up during the time they were awake. they were hallucinating an often falling into trances...it was kinda funny actually.
About 40 hours. Woke up normally 1 day, then worked through the night on coursework, reached 5am and it wasn't worth going to bed, so I just stayed up, then went to sleep as normal that night. Cups of tea and red bull work wonders when you have to pull an all-nighter
