Give up freedom for _____?

Would you give up your freedom for anything?

Giving up your freedom as in being in jail; your time to eat, sleep, work, play is decided.

For anything like; a lot of money, power, knowledge, skill, social status, marriage, children, move anywhere on earth, etc.

We already do give up our freedoms for these things to a degree but I mean losing freedom like becoming someone's slave for the rest of your life.

Moving anywhere on earth and being told how to live doesn't seem so bad. Marriage to someone awful is out of the question.

People often give up their freedom for security or perceived security.

I think I'll keep my freedom (or lack there of) any day of the week.

being in jail contradicts having power, well unless one of them is temporary.

Yea the way TC puts it makes the whole concept contradictory altogether. Basically, you'll need at least some freedom in order to be capable of meaningfully carrying out anything. So the premise that you'll be sacrificing your freedom in its absolute totality for some other thing makes no sense.

Freedom is such a vague word to begin with.

We all have different interpretations and standards of freedom. I believe freedom is a subjective feeling.

Example: For some, having the right to bear arms is an absolute requirement for freedom. For others, they don't care about that.

For some, freedom means to be able to think as an individual even when they can get ostracized for it. For others, they feel free and satisfied to not think at all and just enjoy life in the moment.
