Girl Gets To Use Her Given Name

Several weeks ago, I posted about how a girl in Iceland was known simply as Girl to Icelandic authorities due to her name not being on a list of approved girls names. Well, the Teen legally known as 'Girl' wins court battle to use her own name after authorities relented and now allows her to use it.

Was this a smart call on the Icelandic officials part?

Wouldn't it make more sense to have a list of banned names rather than a list of approved ones?  Seems like you'd miss one or two legitimate names.
