Perceived widespread corruption in U.S. government on the rise

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I could see how the government mandating you to buy health insurance against your will might make you less satisfied with "your freedom to choose what you do with your life".

What say you OT?

How the hell is Cambodia so high on the list? I know the Khmer Rouge has long ended, but a 93% satisfaction rate with the government? Holy shit. And I'm not surprised we see our government as corrupt. There was a Princeton study that claimed the US government resembled an oligarchy more than a democracy, and I believe it. Everything is in the pockets of the one percent, and we have one of the highest income disparity rates among developed countries.

Depends on what kind of freedoms are being considered. Here, the kind of freedoms someone might want could include the freedom to carry a fully loaded M-60. Of course, it's not going to happen.

@gamerguru100:

You are right that the 1% earns too much, and there are large wealth disparities. However, poor Americans still have a higher standard of living than poor people in other developed countries. (Source: http://www.forbes.com/sites/timworstall/2013/06/01/astonishing-numbers-americas-poor-still-live-better-than-most-of-the-rest-of-humanity/ ) and the USA ranks 2nd in median income (Source: http://www.oecd-ilibrary.org/sites/soc_glance-2011-en/04/01/g4_ge1-01.html?itemId=/content/chapter/soc_glance-2011-6-en&_csp_=048bf5a4e0cb098ff846908f382f63e1 )

No, I meant out of all the world's poor people, American poor people have it the best, or among the best. Compared to people in sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and Latin America, poor people in the United States have it really good. That being said, the income inequality in this country is disgusting, to put it lightly.
