I will want to see this but the trailer alone didn't get me excited.

Also, do we know who the main villain is going to be?

#3 Posted by Vatusus (4342 posts) -

I thought the 1st movie was boring shit. Seriously, Captain America might be the most boring super hero ever created. No chance I'll see this.

Definitely looking quite awesome! I know nothing about this villain as I am not familiar with the comics. Anyone who is familiar with this villain, are they a cool/interesting one or kinda lame?

From what I've heard maybe Nomad. Pretty neat seeing Falcon though!

Can't be worse than the first one.

I'm looking forward to it. I just hope that they focus more on the villains this time around, since I thought the first one didn't do too much of that.

Isn't the bad guy The Winter Soldier aka Bucky Barnes, Captain America's former best friend?

Man, the first one was so bad I won't be going anywhere near this thing.

Captain America is the lamest 'super hero' conceived, and it's a giant circle-jerk of american exceptionalism.

Yeah, a friend just told me the same thing, could be interesting

Interesting to see how they will explain it, especially since I thought the marvel movieverse resembled the Ultimates comics more--in which bucky barnes is an old man

The first one was one of my faves of the marvel movies

Film trailers like that are why I watch films.

Looks pretty good. I think I'm the only person that preferred the Captain American film over Thor. Though I think Thor 2 looks a bit better than this.

Winter Soldier is a pretty badass opponent for Captain America. Far from lame. This trailer has me super excited.

Will see....

Certainly looks better than the 1st Captain America. I will probably see it.

Good to hear. Enjoyed the first movie and am surprised people are hating so hard on it.

I am thinking the new Cap movie is looking better than the new Thor ATM.

Well, Captain America was created during World War 2 when patriotism was a lot higher than it is now and you wasn't considered a man unless you did your part for the war effort...

Looks pretty awesome. I hope it does well.

Hopefully there's more action. They spent way too long on the origin portion of Caps in the 1st one.

I was underwhelmed by the first one, but I didn't think it was bad. I'm not ashamed to say I got a little hard while watching this, looks friggin' awesome. I'm also not super impressed with the trailers for the Dark World.

It looks like a step up from the first film, so I may give it a shot. Not that the first movie was bad, just a bit disappointing.

The first movie wasn't that great. Will see how this turns out.

this looks much better than the first one. will watch eventually.

if this 'winter soldier' is the villain character of the movie, he will have a different origin. they killed off bucky rather definitively in the first. honestly, the subtitle the way it is, makes me think it was referring to captain america himself.

No, doesn't he fall into a frozen river? Plus, wasn't the original Winter Soldier a resurrected Bucky Barnes?

First film was the best thing Marvel has put out, this looks like it could be just as good.

#30 Posted by sonicare (53448 posts) -

Looks pretty good. All us comic book fans, already know who winter soldier is. Haha.

Doesn't really change anything.

Since most of us ITT liked Captain America: The First Avenger, I think this is fitting theme music.

I am always a bit surprised that so many here didn't like the first one all that much. Loved it. Probes my fave of the origin movies

Montages make me lose interest, this is why I hate Butch Cassidy and Sundance.

@dave123321: I thought it was good. Not great though. It was really simple (not a bad thing) but my issue with it was that it got too cheesy sometimes.

#37 Posted by theone86 (20555 posts) -

Yeah...watched it again...definitely hard.

Was never able to use Cap well in that game. He was a good character but damn hard to get the hang of....

I have been playing him since Marvel vs Capcom 2. He has always been natural for me.

It shows that Marvel was doing their part during the that time period to show their support for the country. That was very common back then; if Captain America was created 30 years later during the Vietnam War or even today he would have probably flopped. Can't blame them for jumping on the patriotism bandwagon considering that a lot of other media outlets were doing the same.

I guess looking at him from a modern point of view where anti-government feelings are at an all-time high I can see why people hated the first movie and think he is lame. Outside of the US in some countries the first movie took out the title "Captain America" and only called it "The First Avenger" so it wouldn't discourage foreign viewers from seeing it.

I couldn't get his shield-slash combo extensions down. He just ended up being one of many characters that I found too difficult to get down.

That game is freaking complicated as shit....

@lostrib: well i got the distinct impression he was dead. its been a while since ive seen the movie, but i remember him falling from crazy high.

I still liked Iron Man more. But yeah, Captain America was probably my second favorite.

I sort of get why some people don't like it. I guess I could say it was a little bit cheesy and campy, but that's actually sort of endearing to me. Think about Captain America's origin, the patriotism involved, and the fact that that $hit would be just considered ARROGANT in modern times. So...how do you make a modern movie about the character's origin? I think the filmmakers made an appropriate decision here. Despite modern production values and techniques, I think the Captain America movie had a more old-timey identity. Yeah, it was sort of cheesy and campy propaganda, but it KNEW that it would come off as cheesy and campy propaganda anyway. So the movie was sort of done as an homage to the style at the time.

I think it worked, and I think it was strong. That was the inherent baggage with dealing with the origin, and once Captain America has placed in a modern setting they can get on with a more modern style. But I think that the inherent lameness of the character's origin (within the context of modern sensibilities) sort of required a different approach than the other Marvel movies. And...I think they pulled it off. It's solid. I mean, that sort of material sort of HAS to be done kind of cheesy and campy and as a throwback to a different era. And I think it worked. Granted, all subsequent movies should not have that same style, because it would be inappropriate for the material. But as far as origins go, it was about as good as that character could have possibly gotten.

I understand why some didn't like it. It wasn't very exciting. But that's because it was an origin story and they do tend to drag a bit because most people already know the story and just want to get involved in the action. That's why It's rare to find someone who picks the first story in a superhero movie as their favorite.

Iron Man's first movie was somewhat the same. A bit dull but necessary to set up the character for the series. Not just one movie. Hell as much as I like Batman.....Batman Begins had some routine scenes that didn't excite. But again....they were necessary. Also why I don't judge the reboot of Spider-man yet. I liked it well enough but comparing it to the second movie in the Maguire movies isn't fair.

It's more interesting to me to see where they move the character in subsequent movies.

@haziqonfire: That trailer does make it look pretty solid. Never know, though, but so far, I'm sold.
