Since you lack the common sense to realize it's a virus, I'm going to tell you to burn that computer before the FBI raids your establishment and throws you in prison.

It could be that a hacker gained control of your computer using a Trojan Horse or "rootkit" and that he's just trying to freak you out.

But I've also heard it alleged that Microsoft intentionally left "back doors" in its operating systems and made those back doors available to the FBI. :?

How do people even get viruses anymore? Like honestly...? I go to some of the shadiest websites on the internet daily... And in 5 years of owning a gaming PC, have never once had a virus on my computer... Ever.

What if I told you the fbi would bang your door down before wasting time on such a message.

#16 Posted by leviathan91 (7763 posts) -

According to what I found on the Internet, the FBI would NOT lock your computer if you did have said files.

That said, you have a virus.

And you're right. I don't think the FBI would ever extort money from anyone.

I had a similar virus except it wasn't the fbi it was the metropolitian police and they wanted £100 via Ucash.

Just start for computer in safe mode with command prompt, then either do a system restore from there or manually look for the virus in your files and delete it.

For now I think I fixed it as I followed these steps from a you tube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eC0geW_GmCw I think it worked because when I restarted in normal mode, the FBI message didn't pop up.

My way is simpler as it doesn't require you to mess with the internet.

You got yourself a malware or virus. Had it been the FBI then they'd storm your house and put you in cuffs rather then lock your computer and inform you that they're watching you.

My grandparents' laptop had this same virus. My cousin (who is 10 years old) has recently started visiting porn sites and he used their laptop as well. My grandparents showed me the message and back home I searched it on google and it was indeed a virus that you get by visiting porn sites (not necessarily downloading anything). People use their personal info to pay the 100 euros and then the info is sent to a certain website to be used by the hacker (or w/e they are). The cops in my country traced the website to a ukrainian server.

Well you got it some way that type of thing just dosent show up on your computer. If not from a download then maybe someone had it on a flashdrive or something or maybe you just visited a really crappy website.

I have never heard of such a thing....you must have been doing things you shouldn't have been doing. If it's really the FBI then I'm sure they have a reason for locking your computer, they are probably on their way to arrest you. If not it could just be a weird virus, I have never heard of one that locks your computer and says it's FBI.

I think this might be a troll thread.....regardless if you are looking at illegal images you deserve to be locked up.

His only mistake was to visit porn websites which I' m sure pretty much everyone here does. It' s just a virus NOT the FBI.

Stop watching naughty videos on bad websites.

I doubt the FBI would give you much warning if they were going to arrest you. I mean you could be half way to sunny Mexico by now.

Viruses typically have to be installed.

So simply downloading one isn't going to harm your computer. Most people get them from some shady installation packages. Like a .exe file when it should have been something else.

It's probably malware. If it was the FBI you should encrypt you hdd with a program like truecrypt.

A couple automatic rifles, body armor, and a few thousand rounds of ammo would take care of any "pest problems".
