music you listen to when you're sad/music that's just plain sad/depressing

i really don't think i've listened to anything more sad, and I think it'd be pretty hard to find something more depessing than this guys music.

When i feel sad and lonely I always plug in the old VCR and pop in some Wild America. The music when that puma takes down that rabbit always cheers me up. God bless Marty Stouffer you bear poop fondling crazy man.

I think classical is really the only kind of music that can truly make me feel sad (in a good way...).

Nimrod is definitely what I would consider to be one of the sadder pieces I've heard.

A couple of other notable pieces would be To The Stars, and The Breaking of the Fellowship

It depends, I can listen to something that has some sort of sentimental value or something that is melancholy. I don't really have any "sad" songs that I listen to.

The Smiths "Back to the old house" and "asleep" (Ugh, after moving away from my childhood home, I can no longer listen to Back to the Old house, ever again)

Bloc Party "signs"

Beethoven "Pathetique- 2nd movement"

Radiohead "fake plastic trees"

And several Chopin pieces.

There are so many... I dont know, some music from videogames makes me really sad, like nostolgic-melancholy.

Strangely enough, I tend to listen to a lot of heavy music (like System of a Down or Asking Alexandria or Bring Me The Horizon) when I'm in a sad or stressed mood.

Martha My Dear sounds like it's trying to be upbeat, but it makes me depressed.

Bushwick Bill is always reliable when you feel really pissed off with the world. Still not so sure about his new gospel angle but the old bushwick was the king of pissed off depressed songs.

my favourite "sad" songs aren't necessarily sad to listen to at all, for others i just have certain memories attached to certain songs, and with those memories; emotions

The cover is better than the original Tears For Fears version the instrumentals are just not appropriate for the lyrics which is surprise really.

Anyway

Adagio For Strings

Devotchka- How It Ends

Brian Eno- An EndingI don't know about sad but it certainly is atmospheric thinking music. (Ambient)

Henry Gross- Shannon for the more conventional music

Ludovico Einaudi - Nuvole Bianche

The Beatles- Yesterday

I don't know I guess not all of them are typically "sad" but still.

Nocturne in E-flat major, Op. 9, No. 2- Chopin
Étude Op. 10, No. 3-Chopin
"Moonlight Sonata"- Beethoven
The Great Gig in the Sky- Pink Floyd

A few off the top of my head. Forgive me if the names of the classical pieces are off. Also, though I included Pink Floyd in there, 99% of the music that has managed to envoke a feeling of sadness for me is classical.
