there's better ways to raise awareness. Plus I don't think it's possible for humans to save the planet, we can't even treat our own people well, now we want to save the planet? Yeah right...we are not a threat to the Earth.
Earth Hour doesn't raise awareness; it simply encourages people to think that they're environmentally friendly because they just simulated another hour of sleep in their house.
They should rename Earth Hour to become International Feel-Good Day.
The best thing to do would be to accelerate our usage of non renewable energy sources so when they run out quicker they will force us to develop cheap renewable sources. After all necessity is the mother of invention
Yup, I'll participate. I personally do feel that enough people doing it does make a difference even if it isn't in the obvious ways people hope for. It is the idea of making many small changes that really helps and earth hour shows people can cut back without removing their dependency entirely. The more people willing to make small changes there are the bigger the overall change will be.. even if we are just delaying the inevitable.. maybe eventually all of our small changes will give us enough time to develop better, greener technologies before it is too late.
