It's nice that people didn't want to hit the ducks, I wouldn't either, but I don't know if I'd ever hit the breaks like that in a freeway. Glad the ducks are ok, though.

I wouldn't quickly stop or swerve for any small critters on a highway. That's really dangerous. **** the ducks.

I like ducks. Ducks are a friend of mine, but they should be more careful when crossing the highway.

♪ and they waddled away. (Waddle waddle) 'Til the very next day. ♪

As someone who regularly drives a 90,000+ pound vehicle for a living, the thought of pulling a crazy maneuver like that to avoid small wildlife doesn't even cross my mind.

A deer or a moose is another thing entirely, but if it comes down to it, I'm not risking having the load shift on my trailer (or have the securement fail entirely) to save the lives of some ducks, skunks, gophers, whatever that come onto the highway.

And I am a lover of all things animal.

Amazing how people stopped for those ducks, that would never have happened 50 years ago

Probably because cars back then wouldn't have suffered debilitating damage from hitting a few ducks.

Criminal charges for not running them over, if a accident happens is a stupid call. There are so many laws protecting animals, but on the road they are considered garbage, wtf ? So run them over, or be responsible for whatever results may happen for not killing them. Wow !

Yeah I'm starting to notice that all of a sudden. I know for a fact that Ducks do cross the streets when there's no cars on the road but a Highway, they ain't playing dumb, they knew the risk. Smart bastards I say.

Very stupid comment by the mn highway patrol. If something is in the middle of the road, I'm braking or swerving. As long as no one is tailgating, there should not be any accidents. Only in Minnesota can the person, with working brake lights, be responsible for getting rear ended.

Wow that was scary, both for the ducks and the people. I remember seeing a momma duck and her babies on the side of a road once (one of those middle bits of grass in between two roads) and I know I swerved without really thinking about it. It's difficult not to try and protect the cute baby animals from harm because it's generally your first instinct.

Exactly, its a normal reaction. In my neck of the wood though we stop, because there are wild turkey crossings, and trust me you cannot run them over, they are huge.
