Drag queens banned since they offend transgender people.

Organisers of Free Pride Glasgow, which bills itself as an 'anti-commercialist' alternative to the Scottish city's main Pride event, have announced the controversial ban.

Despite the fact that drag queens have been closely associated with Pride celebrations for most of their history, they will not be allowed to appear at the event next month in case they cause offence.

A statement from the organisers said: “After much discussion, the trans and non binary caucus decided not to have drag acts perform at the event.

“The decision was taken by transgender individuals who were uncomfortable with having drag performances at the event. It was felt that it would make some of those who were transgender or questioning their gender uncomfortable."

I can see why they don't want to be grouped with transgender people though, transgender people identify with the opposite gender/sex, whereas drag is a performance, usually a over the top representation of one gender, and is more temporary (as for the performance), whereas being transgender is lifestyle choice

still, maybe they don't feel under the LGBT umbrella, but they certainly qualify as being "queer" (in the self applied reclamation empowering sense of the word)

Sounds like a committee of PC people looking for waves to make rather than them actually being concerned about what the people of the community itself actually think (I doubt there is a single trans person out there who would be "offended" by a drag queen... like seriously).
