Obviously, no one can make any conclusive judgments about the Spider-Man reboot (The Amazing Spider-Man) as a whole because only one film of it has been released so far and the second one is months away from hitting theaters. However, based on what you've seen of it so far, the first film and the trailers of the second one, how do you think it's holding up compared to Sam Raimi's trilogy?

Here are my thoughts on this matter.

I liked the Raimi Spider-Man's at the time....well not so much 3...but I like this new series as well. And I like Garfield better than Maguire. Tobey was too emo as it were.

I like both Tobey and Garfield, but Tobey is more empathetic to me; his performance resonates with me.

It's the kid in me. However, Superhero films aren't the only type I watch; I'm a big fan of independent dramas, such as Prisoners, The Good Heart, Out of the Furnace, Being Flynn, and more.

I think it's best that I refrain from using cheap gimmicks.

On another note, I'm not sure whether I should go to the movies today, because I want to review a recent film but doing so will take up the rest of my day, which would suck because I have to go to work tomorrow. The movies I have in mind are 300: Rise of an Empire, RoboCop, or Need for Speed.

I've been told that using a mask is gimmicky and kind of weird/ creepy. So, I stopped. I got a lot of negative feedback when I wore the Dr. Manhattan mask.

The originals are not perfect but yes, they are miles better than the new one Particularly Spiderman 2.

When it comes to marvel though it's generally only the xmen that interest me enough not to only take a passing interest. Xmen: First Class was an intelligent way to keep the franchise fresh rather than just hitting a "reset" button.

To be honest I would have liked more Sam Raimi movies just carried on as they did with Xmen. Reboot was too son and when put up against Raimi, it will be looked upon unfavorably.

Not sure I'd agree it's "The best". Personally (i.e. bias opinion) I think Xmen 2 is the best. But it's certainly one of the best no doubt.

You speak about the themes and yea, it's done well. The other thing that stands out is the action sequences. In Spiderman 1 is kinda looked like a dude in a cheap power ranger plastic outfit fighting. In spiderman 2 Sam Raimi turns the fight scenes into an exciting energy filled roller-coaster. It has great use of "heavy" cgi. Slightly cartoony but in the context of the movie, perfectly fine.

X2 is kind of like that as well. The first movie has so-so action sequences in comparison.

It seems that with these trilogies, the second film is always considered the best. That was the case with Spider-Man, Nolan's Batman films (though I think Begins is the best), and the X-Men films. With that in mind, I guess we can look forward to The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Garfield played a brooding outcast while Maguire played the average dork. The former is cooler while the latter is more relatable, so I'll give it a tie when it comes to their portrayal of Peter Parker.

I thought Mary Jane was a rather bland character (for always being a screaming damsel in distress). I think Gwen Stacy in TAS was a much better female lead and I prefer the chemistry between Peter and Gwen.

Spider Man 2 had a relatable story with a protagonist that people want to cheer for.

SM2 > TAS > SM = SM3

The Amazing Spider-Man alone is superior to all three previous movies. Sam Raimi's films were campy, cheesy, over-the-top rom-coms.

Superior to all three? Are you out of your mind? To me, The Amazing Spider-Man lacked that cinematic scope in regard to its tone and the drama of the story; it feels slightly above a well-made television series. Also, none of the action compared to anything shown in Sam Raimi's films, and Rhys Ifans performance as Dr. Curt Connors doesn't compare to that of any of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man's villains.

Please expound upon your assertions that Spider-Man 2 was long and boring, and that its rendition of Dr. Octopus was weak compared to that of the 1990's cartoon.

Not getting how Doc Oc was a bad villain.Good guy has horrible accident (like two face) becomes misguided (like two face) duel personality (like two face). However unlike two face at the end of the movie the heroes identity is revealed and he attempts to amend the damage he has done. The entire character arc is rock solid. He also (like the Joker) attempts to use the heroes compassion for human life against him. It's ultimately how he defeats him. The actual physical design of the character leads to fairly unique fight scenes as well. i.e. fighting vertically..

In comparison to the 3, I had most fun watching the Amazing Spider-Man. It is finally bringing something that hasn't been shown or mentioned for a long while and that is, Gwen Stacy. How many people don't know that she was Peters first true love and never knew she existed? All we see in cartoons and the later comics are Mary J. The Lizard was a breath of fresh air because he wasn't one of the more popular villains like Goblin or Venom. Now they're bringing in Electro who from what I recall didn't share too much airtime on the popular cartoons. Rhino is usually more like the bouncer in the cartoons working for Goblin or Kingpin. It's nice to see Goblin coming back for this sequel but I doubt they can beat the original costume from Raimi's first Spidey. That was a really badass outfit. The acting in Amazing Spider-Man seems to be taken more seriously than the previous 3.

Honestly, I enjoyed Amazing Spider-Man just as much if not more than Spider-Man 2. That's not saying that Sam Raimi' movies are trash because they're not. They are great films as well but this new Spidey has more edge to it which is a lot more appealing to me.

I just watched your video and thought you had some cool opinions. At least in the video you weren't insulting the other part of the Spider franchise and were just giving honest good opinions. I couldn't watch it earlier because I was on the phone and don't like watching youtube videos on it. Anyway, you and I have the same speakers and microphone lol.

I use mine for this kind of shit though, lol.

That's a funny coincidence! As for the microphone, I actually haven't been using it because it picks up all sorts of background noise, even when the gain is set relatively low and the pattern is set to Cardioid mode. I'd need to soundproof my room to minimize background noise and the echo of my voice. Tisk, tisk. Have you got any solutions?

Hmm... The only thing I can think of possibly setting the recording volume to low. I usually have mine at around 7 or 8. Just go into control panel, sound options and find the mic then set the volume lower. I had the same problem with the backround noise and turning it down that much helped a bit. Even at that low of a setting your voice will still come out loud. Try it out and let me know if it helped.

While I enjoyed the Sam Raimi trilogy when I was younger, I've found they don't really hold up over time. The first movie wasn't that good, we just all love it because most of us were young and it kicked off the whole Marvel movie craze. Spiderman 3 was just plain bad. Two was the only one that was legitimately good. I never really cared for Tobey Maguire, he just seemed so whiny and he always looked like he was about to cry, and Mary Jane was a f***ing annoying tease in those films. Amazing Spiderman was a solid all around movie. While I still prefer Spiderman two, I think Amazing Spiderman had a better cast and feel than the Sam Raimi trilogy overall.

Crazy people will say Amazing Spiderman was better than Spiderman 1 and 2 LOL. That being said Amazing Spiderman was much better than Spiderman 3 , and Amazing Spiderman 2 has potential to be even better than Spiderman 1 and 2.

While it's important to stand out from the rest, I doubt that cheap gimmicks such as wearing a mask is really the solution. After all, that's freaking easy, so if it was gonna work then you'd have to figure that someone would have already capitalized on it.

I think the idea is for the actual CONTENT to stand out.

The 2002 movie was the best.

-Better Plot

-Better Scenes

-Better antagonist

Spiderman 2 and other comic-book movies are pretty much chick/drama flicks.

Meh, the lizard was always my favorite so I really liked the reboot.

But hey man the quality of your videos has gone up alot! Great job!

Try to fix your mic issue though, because you are a little low, and put on a suit or something! Or maybe a marvel shirt? But keep working on it, I see progress being made

The lizard design was awful. it was too big to cg heavy and looked out of place.
